Actually, I think that's Birdman...

After my second viewing of Nolan's space epic:

1) Gone Girl
2) Interstellar
3) Boyhood
4) Days of Future Past
5) Grand Budapest Hotel
6) Dawn of the Planet of the Apes
7) Edge of Tomorrow

Overall, I'd put Interstellar right under TDK/TDKR, and just above Inception.

Still plenty to see before I make a final list but the only two films that can make a major shift in the first two spots are Birdman and Inherent Vice, the way I see it now, we'll see how it goes with those... and Foxcatcher, Whiplash, Nightcrawler...

Finally seeing Whiplash this weekend, and I'm expecting insane greatness from some of these ratings.

I'm probably giving it a bit too much credit, but it is truly astounding in terms of independent filmmaking rather than pure cinema.

I don't eat up the indie thing like some people, so we'll see. Frankly I'm more excited for Citizenfour, which I'm seeing soon too.

What does "I don't eat up the indie thing like some people," mean exactly? I presume it means you're more enthralled by the grandeur of large scale cinema flicks such as 2001, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the King, all of which I see are your top 3 favorite films. I'd like to hear some expanded thoughts on your statement.
