Basically, Boyle had an original idea that EON are having John Hodge write. Basically, in a couple months time once the first draft is in, if they like it, Boyle is in. If not, they go back to the previous Purvis/Wade idea that got Craig signed on for this and the original Villeneuve/Demange/Mackenzie shortlist.

A *very* similar rumour popped out about Nolan on Reddit last year.

I’ve been waiting for an installment directed by Danny Boyle. His energy is perfect for a Bond flick. Plus, a Bond flick potentially lensed by Anthony Dod Mantle makes me even more excited.

Just bookend this thing with Campbell and call it BOND. Give it a Logan vibe.

Reboot with a trilogy arc, a younger Bond, Nolan and Denis, and actually see through Property of a Lady and Risico.

Looks like they will have to search for someone else as Boyle chooses a different film to do next-

Boyle is all but officially in - all depends on the script
https://www.metro.us/entertainment/movi ... es-bond-25
“We are working on a script right now. And it all depends on that really. I am working on a Richard Curtis script at the moment. We hope to start shooting that in 6 or 7 weeks. Then Bond would be right at the end of the year. But we are working on them both right now.”

“We’ve got an idea, John Hodge, the screenwriter, and I have got this idea, and John is writing it at the moment. And it all depends on how it turns out. It would be foolish of me to give any of it away.”
