Do you think Gosling self-esteem has taken a big hit?

He must privately be seething. I mean the film is taking a severe beating from many critics. His 'image' is being attacked. He might fall foul with Hollywood.

Even though it's getting burned down, I'm still interested in this.

And yes, mainly because of Christina Hendricks :D She needs to be in more movies

His acting has also been panned lately with Only God Forgives and Gangster Squad.

His only upcoming acting project seems to be a Terrence Malick film and I bet he won't have much screentime in that, especially considering the actors involved in it.
So, yeah, Gosling seems to sink for a while.

(although I'm curious about Lost River and really hope it's not as bad as they say)

Gosling will not lose his appeal as a celebrity but like I said he could fall foul with Hollywood. I still think he is great but he may be shoe-horned permanently into the independent film world (which is necessarily a bad thing). I personally love the roles he does but it is clear the 'mainstream' do not agree for whatever reason.

It's happened before, a film star on the up who, after a few maverick film choices finds himself rejected by the Hollywood system. I think he'll take it well, but this could scar him.

Maybe he should think about getting a role in a major blockbuster. To keep his profile up and when that's a success, still being able to do smaller films and/or direct himself.

I think Gosling could definitely another Crazy, Stupid comedy type film. I'm not sure though if studios will hire him for 'big,' top-billing roles. Rumour is he has been offered many typical action hero roles which he has turned down in favour of 'smaller' films.
