10/10

From The Great Gatsby thread:

AMAZING! Baz Luhrmann did an amazing job. As I was seeing the movie, I remembered how much I loved the book.

Leo was incredible, as always. He was born to be Gatsby! I remember passing the pages of the book imagining DiCaprio in the role. At first I was not sure about Carey as Daisy (I don't know why because I consider her a very talented actress...) but she was great too! (Though I hate her character!) Tobey was so fitting as Nick. I remember that one of the things that I did not like about the book was that Nick Carraway was there to be narrator and to bring Daisy and Gatsby back together. But this thing was well managed in the movie.
I didn't like the Jay Z song on this but well, apart from that, it was an incredible and fresh adaptation.

Sadly, I saw it on 2D, because there where no 3D functions here in Mar del Plata. All the 3D rooms where occupied with Iron Man 3 :eh:

Like In Bruges, this is very clever and funny. Amazing cast - except for Colin Farrell's whining built character (maybe something a bit angrier and cynical would've worked better, like Ewan Mcgregor in Trainspotting). Sam Rockwell ROCKS! Carter Burwell's "spaghetti western" type score (Morricone style) is another highlight.

Drive (2011)
Level of Admiration: 9.1/10
Level of Personal Interest: 9.3/10

I waited almost for two years to watch this piece of gold for the second time because I wanted to make it as fresh as possible. With this viewing I'm convinced this is my favorite film from the last two years.£

Not gonna lie, it was a very difficult thing to do. I did the same for The Dark Knight, after watching it for like 15 times or so I decided not to watch it for a year and half to make my next viewing of it as close as it could get to the freshness of the first viewing. It didn't really work though, lol.£

I do that also. I'll watch them a couple of times when they first come to the theater or blu-ray, then I may go months or even years before watching them again. In some cases I enjoy the film even more after waiting so long between viewings.

LOL yeah... with TDK I really couldn't help myself. I know I have seen it over one hundred times. I ended up seeing Drive twice at the movies. Keeping a movie fresh is important but when it comes to the few I love.. I can't help but watch them all the time.

I don't think I have ever denied myself of watching something again to keep it fresh to be honest. I will turn it on and if it's too soon I turn it off, and watch it next week

Just watched Star Trek 2009. I'll give 7.5/10.
I think my expectation was probably too high due to the general praise this film got.
I was somehow thinking that it wouldn't be just another blockbuster. But it was. It was fun yes, I liked Spoke and Kirk relationship, yes. But that's about it really.
I'm always pissed by the comic relief character (Pegg and Urban), the stupid jokes (mainly by Pine) and the overdramatized scenes with overdramatized score (the opening scene).
I really liked Quinto's Spock.

Hope the sequel will be better.
