Why is it called the Batpod?

I don't get it? Motorcycle has no "pod" in it? Where does it come from?

One of the definitions of pod - "A detachable or self-contained unit on an aircraft, spacecraft, vehicle, or vessel, having a particular function"

So I guess since the batpod was a detachable unit of Tumbler, hence the name. The best explanation I have ;)
