Yup,it's the most normal plot Nolan came with,and it's a remake that almost looks excactly the same as the original.
This movie was just to Set-Up he's career as a Blockbuster director.

I think Insomnia is Nolan's weakest film (Haven't seen Following yet). However I have watched it twice and I thoroughly enjoyed the film on both counts. It's more than a solid film IMO though not exceptional.
