Re: Senators to vote on DADT tomorrow
IMHO, Republicans are pathetic. They want tax cuts for the rich, they block START, they want to scrap Medicare. The list is endless. What's wrong with not wanting Medicare? Don't people have the right to choose their own health care providers? Tax cuts for the rich: they're doing this to encourage ...

Re: The Tree Of Life - December (hopefully)
Talking of Terrance Mallick, I believe Nolan called him one of his major inspirations along with Ridley Scott, Stanley Kubrick, and Nicolas Roeg ( Lawrence of Arabia ) at Wondercon earlier this year. I'm surprised that no one brought this up in this thread yet. But Nolan was indeed somewhat influenc...

Re: Senators to vote on DADT tomorrow
So is it blocked for good? Or did they just postpone it again? They postponed it again. With the republicans about to control the House starting in January, the policy is not "likely" to be repealed anytime soon, according to the Secretary of Defense Robert Gates. It eventually will be repealed, bu...

Re: Best Actor
Eisenberg has no chance whatsoever in this year's Oscars. The majority of the members of the Academy are actors, now that doesn't necessarily go in Eisenberg's favor. His flat acting performance is just too mundane to even be considered. It lacked the nuances in Ellen Page's performance in Juno, nor...

Re: Latest Cinema Experience
Talk about the presentation when you rate the movie in that thread, no need for another one for such a trivial thing. Apparently production updates are less trivial than the actual cinematic experience in this forum. I guess Crazy Eight should start posting any production update on Slashfil...

Re: Latest Cinema Experience
I haven't been to a movie showing with regular film projection in years (aside from a few Imax showings). Do you personally prefer a movie to be projected in film? Or are you fine with digital projection?

Re: What was the last movie you've watched?
Rope Hitchcock's very first colormovie and by far the worst that I've seen of him. The movie is kind of uninteresting. A lot of Hitchcock's movies are timeless. They can still be watched after many, many years, but this one is outdated. A few things I did like: The movie is real-time, shot in very ...

Re: The Tree Of Life - December (hopefully)
His movies are usually too smart for an average person. Look, he majored in Philosophy in Harvard University and graduating summa cum laude (with hugest honor). He would have been a philosophy professor had he not entered the world of cinema. Yes all his films are aesthetically brilliant, but he's n...

I have lost the count how many girlfriends I had in Middle school and High school and in college. still date and mess around I don't know if that makes me a priest. Reason I said strong sexual content kills the movie for me cause it is not necessary to bring strong sexual content and nudity in fill...
