Best David Fincher Film (Poll)

Fincher is the Lumet of his age, and The Social Network is his Network. I just can't go past it. It's an immaculately packaged film. (Or video, as the case may be).

Controversial opinions about movies

Watchmen stinks. A misguided adaptation - in fact I'd say that it should never have been adapted at all. The story is fundamentally a comic book about how books are told - the point is missed entirely when you make a film of it. Moore is right to bitch about it when it comes to such a singular work...

Prometheus (2012)

Personally I don't think a film deserves to be dwelled on when it can't get the fundamentals right.

You don't watch Jim Gordon and think "Wow, only Gary Oldman could have played this character in this way." Its a fairly generic take on a character that many actors could have easily done just the same. ...

The Yankee Comandante [Clooney directing]

Here's hoping the source material is infinitely better than Farragut North.

Good Night and Good Luck is still one of the best films of the last 10 years. Clooney may never hit those heights again, but I think he's genuinely talented behind the camera.

Flight (2012)

Zemeckis has talent. Whether he applies it or not is the big question. Not a great percentage of the time.

This really looks like something out of the mid-90s in terms of style, tone, whatever. Fearless-meets-Philadelphia, I guess.
