I think 'untold' refers to Peter's parents.I haven't read many comics so I am no sure.Perhaps, Dr. Connor is friend of Peter's dad and both were working on some experiment which later gives superpowers to Peter.

Man,I don't know.TDK's Hongkong scene is all CGI too.But I think if they are doing CGI scene then most likely it will be like Harry Potter where CG is combined with made up sets.
