Re: Oppenheimer - Awards Speculation

Past Lives fits the narrative of what has won Best Pic the last few years. Non-white, smaller budget, marginalized community, sort of feel good narrative. Someone mentioned in this thread that Oppenheimer might not win because of these reasons. It's very possible but it's also possible that Oscars ...

Re: Oppenheimer - Awards Speculation

I can actually see Past Lives being the main competition. I think Killers of the Flower Moon has letdown potential similar to The Irishman. People see the stars, director and think it's automatic. This is not me saying it's going to be the Irishman but let's wait and see first. I haven't seen much ...

Re: Oppenheimer - General Information

I shouldn't have called Brody a hack because he's got a veteran, respected history as a critic but his reviews of some of the better movies this year comes off as grumpy to me. It is what it is for his reviews I guess. :D

Re: "Oppenheimer" Reviews Discussion

Down 88% on MT. I think is a flop now   It was Richard Brody of course. I don't understand how MC included his review when they already have a review from the New Yorker and they didn't include his review for Dunkirk. :? And it's all late too like he decided to wake up Monday morning and ...

So fucking good.

9/10 probably. Going again this week and curious how it'll play on a rewatch.
It played even better.

Give Jen Lame the Oscar.
I saw you upgraded from 4.5 to 5 on Letterboxd. That's something right there.

Re: Oppenheimer - General Information

Problem is I look at Nolan films more critically than others the first time. Definitely need to rewatch in actual 70mm IMAX with a more relaxed mind and I can probably see what y'all are talking about. I feel you. The first watch I was taking it all in and adjusting to the structure and rhythm, and...

Re: Box Office

No matter how well the film does at the box office, it won't help it at the Oscars *flashbacks to Dunkirk being the highest-grossing WW2 film of all time and walking away with zero major Oscar wins* You may be right it might not win any major Oscars but there's a different time and different circum...
