Re: Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Kind of late to this but I found Endgame a bit of a letdown compared to Infinity War (which I should confess really exceeded my expectations). I mean I don't know what the consensus is on the two of them.

Re: Trumpocalypse Now
It was nice watching Warren and Sanders combining to swat down the DINOs on stage today. Of course, as the field eventually narrows down, they'll be forced to differentiate themselves from each other, and their unofficial detente will break down - and you're damn right the media will make sure of it.

Re: Last Film You Watched? VI
It's been a while since I saw The Train but I kind of remember that my main issue with it was Paul Scofield's character - Colonel von Waldheim. Maybe it's because the movie was released merely a generation after the end of WWII but the devolution of his character from this interesting, decent man in...

Re: Last Film You Watched? VI
The Stanford Prison Experiment —a decent movie. It convincingly extracts an enormity of suspense and terror from a relatively benign concept through an obviously psychological lens. The premise is milked to its near maximum. The film's main downfall is the horrible portrayals of Dr. Zimbardo and Dr...

The Wild Pear Tree: Similar to Ceylan's last movie - Winter Sleep - in many ways, and a bit of a letdown in others. This is also over 3 hours long, and there is also lot of talk. On the other hand, it soon starts feeling a little repetitive as every conversation keeps making the same point about the...

Re: HBO's Game of Thrones
I'm not sure I agree with this Bran/Iron Throne theory, or if it's a good thing at all. Of course it makes sense if the whole prophecy about Bran simply ended with the Night King, and him being this kind of Messianic figure (not sure where that leaves Jon who was conceived out of actual prophecy) de...

Re: HBO's Game of Thrones
I don't understand how everyone doesn't have 8 last. It's a season of ruined character arcs, and uneven spectacle. Are there that many good things about it, or are other seasons really worse as a whole?
