Re: How does Arthur stay asleep in the van?

They state that the kick is the falling sensation only when under the sedative. Since Fischer was dead in level 3 (I'm assuming), he wasn't under the sedative. In the beginning of the movie, you might have noticed that Cobb being dunked was actually the kick. And when they are doing the planning sc...

Re: How Did They Wake themselves Up From the Rainy City?

I wonder what Fischer was thinking as he was sitting on the side of the river watching Ariadne and Arthur swim up from the van after. I mean at that point he still believes they tried to kidnap him. Unless I missed something I thought this was strange. Did he ever have a good look at his kidnappers...

Re: How does Arthur stay asleep in the van?

I'll have to rewatch the movie and comment again, but Eames may have wanted to blow up the hospital in order to sync himself up with the kick in level 2. Also, a kick seems to be any external stimulation that would wake someone up from a dream. In the case of the final act, the only way to wake som...

Re: How does Arthur stay asleep in the van?

Eames destroyed the base of the hospital in level 3, causing it to collapse and creating the falling sensation associated with the kick. As for Fischer, it's worth noting that his dreaming body (level 3) wasn't hooked up to the dream machine (at least, I don't believe it was), which means the shock...

Re: How does Arthur stay asleep in the van?

This also explains why Ariadne threw Fischer off the edge when she saw he was being shocked and why she jumped off herself when the buildings started to crumble, indicating that Eames was beginning to "kick" her. Further, it will explain why Cobb does not wake up from the kick initiated by Eames in...

Re: My Interpretation of the Ending

I didn't hear the top fall either but it definitely did do some wobbling and the other stronger bit of evidence is that Cobb didn't have his wedding ring on.

Oh and also Mal's hotel room across from the destroyed one is perfectly fine. It definitely is NOT trashed like the one Cobb enters into.

Re: How does Arthur stay asleep in the van?

There was an effect, it was the avalanche. The avalanche happened just as the van went over the side. OK, i think you're right on that point. Did the van flipping over and over have any impact on level 3? Cuz i would think that would also cause some sort of chaos as well. Not that I can remember.

Re: How does Arthur stay asleep in the van?

Saito was shown physically wounded on both level 2 and 3. There are no actual physical anti gravity element in level 2, hence it can't be transferred to level 3? As for the kick itself, I think it's more of the 'impact' felt upon 'falling over' feeling, as opposed to the 'falling' feeling. The mome...

sallygucha wrote:After the synchronized kick, they all wake up in the rainy city dream, swimming to the surface of the water from the van. But they are still in the dream. How did they wake up on the plane from there?
They most likely just waited until the sedation wore off.
