Re: Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019)

TLJ teased a big rivalry between Hux & Kylo in IX (literally the last closeup of the film)

And we got... this.

May not be huge but a big disappointment for me

Re: BBC's His Dark Materials

I'm a bit late on this but I'm finished the first four episodes and it's really good for the most part but there's a major problem imo The lack of background daemons. Severely destroys the credibility of the worldbuilding. CGI concerns are obvious but there has to be a way to do something better. I ...

Re: Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019)

On the cameo side of things, in a weird turn of events...
Harrison Ford actually seemed to give a shit and it gave us the best scene in the film imo. Mark Hamill was surprisingly pretty bad in his two minutes. The writing and wig didn't help but after his extraordinary TLJ performance, it was weird

Re: Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019)

I thought this was embarrassingly bad. Especially the editing and the video-game narrative of the first half Even ignoring TLJ and considering it a TFA sequel, it just made me realize how Kasdan was crucial to the creation of the new characters. They all have 10x less charisma in this, are mostly ex...

Re: HBO's Watchmen

ugh, I really didn't like the final episode much. I'm deeply happy we have this wildly ambitious show and I loved much of it. I'm such a fan of Watchmen and The Leftovers (which is the greatest thing ever) that there was no way it could live up to that honestly My problems -Laurie’s sudden interest ...

Re: HBO's Watchmen

Extraordinary. Just extraordinary.

And I thought the Dr. Manhattan birth sequence was iconic in the Snyder film.

And the ending

This show is amazing.

I do have one (technical) problem with the episode
The Dr. Manhattan CGI effects felt a little cheap...no?

Re: Best Films of the Decade 2010-2019

I feel comfortable with this these 12. Not in order except the top 2 which are all-time great masterpieces in my opinion. I think about them most days Inside Llewyn Davis Annihilation The Social Network Whiplash Birdman Arrival Blade Runner 2049 Phantom Thread Roma The Lighthouse The Irishman Parasite

Re: HBO's Watchmen

That twist came out of nowhere The most interesting thing about it is Angela being in on this whole thing. A big WTF. Next episode will be huge to judge if what they did was clever or random. Also the Veidt story needs to fucking move on. I like the scenes on their own but I feel like this week's sc...
