Re: Jojo Rabbit (2019)

Didn't care for this. Passively charming at best, it's a clumsy appropriation of Wes Anderson's style. The palette, the anachronistic rock and roll, deadpan-slapstick performances, the lateral camera moves. Where Wes' style is one of exactness, Taika's loose, borderline "sketch" approach doesn't me...

Re: Last Film You Watched? VI

I rewatched Legends of the Fall a couple of days ago for the first time in years, and with the exception of James Horner's score and John Toll's cinematography... that movie hasn't aged well.

Re: Little Women (2019)

Until the awful news about Kobe Bryant's death ruined my mood, I was utterly charmed and moved by this film. It's definitely my favorite adaptation I've seen so far of the novel, and one of 2019's best.

Re: NBA Discussion Thread

I had just gotten out of the theatre from seeing Little Women when I heard this awful news, and that pretty much ruined the rest of my day. Re: 2019-2020 Awards Season

Re: 2019-2020 Awards Season

Glad to hear it's official, though, and I hope they are able to release some other great movies from last year like A Hidden Lif...

Why would people lose their shit if 1917 wins? I haven't seen any hate for it so far, or am I missing something?
It's not worth losing your shit over any movie that wins or loses an award.
