Controversial opinions about movies
I think Gangs of New York's script was top notch and well deserved for its nomination for an Oscar. After all, it was written by Jay Cocks and Steven Zaillian two of the best working screenwriters right now in Hollywood. Zaillian's very very uneven, and Cocks hasn't done anything for quite a while....

War Horse (2011)
There are no real villains in the film, and that ties into the ploughing - everyone in the film essentially does what they think is right. The distinction is chiefly between those who lie and those who persist with the truth.

[SPOILERS] Catching Fire (2013)
Twilight 's problem isn't that it sold out at any point, it's that it's just fundamentally atrocious. This stuff at least has some sort of commentary on the fact that violence becomes entertainment and so on and so forth. Going by the first film it's not amazing or anything, but it's certainly a wh...

Ridley Scott Western
Scott talks a lot of shit. Repeatedly.
I'll believe it when it's in production. Regardless, I'm sure he'll find some way to get me interested and then disappoint me when the film itself comes out. His instincts have been way off-base for years now.

Controversial opinions about movies
Well, you can't really say it is, objectively... no one can make genuinely objective statements about a film overall since opinion and perspective is going to inform everything to some degree, but I'd say that it's not even better than The Aviator , much less the likes of After Hours , The Last Temp...

Controversial opinions about movies
If you really think that The Departed is Scorsese's best then you're in for a treat, because clearly you haven't seen enough Scorsese films.
Not that it's bad or anything. It's a lot of fun. But just no.

War Horse is a phenomenal film. That is actually a controversial opinion.
It's the Spielbergian idea of punishing liars and rewarding those who seek the truth above all brought to the fore.
One of 2011's absolute best along with Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Margaret.

Hans Zimmer's TDKR Soundtrack
Hopefully it's another riff on that ominous ticking from the first two films.David8 wrote:A Storm is coming has to be the music from the intro to the movie, ala Inception. On the inception soundtrack, the first track was like an amalgamation of different tracks from the OST, and it played during the Logos.

Best James Bond?
Brosnan is the absolute worst by a country mile. He's the only one who seems to be thinking "Hey, I'm playing James Bond!" throughout all of his films. Can't act, and is no one's idea of a real serious operator.

Here's one. Boogie Nights is better than Magnolia. Overall it is better structured film with better characters and more intriguing settings/timeframe.It has greater emotional resonance and it rounds itself off and resolves the plot better than Magnolia. I still quite like Magnolia though. Very much...
