Re: The Lion King (2019)

That's how I felt about Jungle Book too. I really enjoyed that, but I'm surprised its so acclaimed as such. The tonal changes were bizarre.

Re: Last Film You Watched? VI

Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters-- Schrader's magnum opus and a self-reflexive masterwork where the life of an artist and his art become a blurred, beautiful tapestry. It is also totally singular movie incomparable to any other. It is at once a crisp black and white biopic of a famous author and an ...

Re: Netflix's Stranger Things

netflix only releases a small fraction of their data, they don't allow third parties to check that data, nor do they reveal their methods for aquiring that data. not saying that netflix couldn't pull a 40 million stat from somewhere but a lack of transparency + a clear agenda = little reason to tak...

i'm pretty sure he's having a go at all of us but in case he's not, blade runner's main dude is literally named "Rick" and all the main buildings are actual ginormous pyramids. like, actual PYRAMIDS. loads of sci-fi has a retro-furitistic bent where things from from ancient rome / greece / medieval ...

Re: Netflix's Stranger Things

Hopper is a toxic and troubled guy and has been from day 1. I like that ST3 is willing to let a messy character seem so ugly at times. Adult level problems for one of the two main adult characters feels fair. For what it’s worth, he’s a much cooler version of a lot of my friends dads including my ow...
