So the script is floating out there, here's a reaction...apparently very faithful to the novel https://kiri2ll.livejournal.com/1393063.html
how do we know the script is real?

Re: Star Wars Universe Discussion Thread

My absolutely correct shortlist to do STAR WARS:

Brad Bird
Jennifer Lee
Alfonso Cuarón
Damien Chazelle
Coralie Fargeat
Deborah Chow
Kathryn Bigelow
Taika Waititi

and, of course, Rian Johnson(!)

seriously, Frozen's Jennifer Lee is the single best choice nobody talks about.

...almost every single one of JJ's directorial projects are among the most diverse in the history of TV or film, including asian actors (John Cho, Maggie Q, Daniel Dae Kim, Yunjin Kim). He has also opened doors for many people of diverse backgrounds inside the industry. I hate what happened with Ros...

Re: 2019-2020 Awards Season

We need to completely dispel the 1850s notion that "racism" or "prejudice" is willful and malicious and a binary of "racist" or "not-racist;" it's a sliding scale of biases ingrained in all human behavior on all levels, a consequence of the fact biases are implicit in the social systems of our socie...

Re: Marriage Story (2019)

Blue Valentine is more visceral / raw, Star is Born is too, but Marriage Story feels more "ordinary" and or even banal, giving those moments a real-world credibility that really fucked me up

Moving to California next week and I'm currently alternating between excitement and full blown panic attacks

Re: Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019)

a leaked john williams cue list was released from November, and apparently the whole arrangement of the opening sequence(s) changed drastically a few weeks prior to opening. we originally cut between Rey and (way more) Ren (seeing the oracle, vader's castle, etc) before the lightspeed skipping/spy s...

Re: 2019-2020 Awards Season

sure, but if there was actual gender parity in film as opposed to the token amount now this wouldn't be an issue. plus implying representation is the only area where the academy completely missed the mark gives them far too much credit. to put so much stock in them is futile cause they're fundament...
