Re: INCEPTION is the movie that defined 2010

I could be wrong but I think Inception will date very quickly. In ten years' time I think you'll look back at it and it'll look old. I agree with DreamArchitect that TSN will come to define not just a year but a period, not for how it looks but for what it says. Inception vs. TSN will define 2010 a...

Re: The INCEPTION Oscars® Discussion Thread

Roger Ebert on Nolan snub: "Every year there is a Best Picture the Academy didn't think was directed by a Best Director, and this year the leading candidate for Overlooked Director seems to be Christopher Nolan, of "Inception." His exclusion isn't as dramatic as in the years where there were only f...

Re: inception hard to understand for you?

The scene at the beginning is really the scene from the end. The rest of the movie is straightforward. This is mostly correct. There are a few instances where there is some slight time jumping forwards and backwords, like seeing Arthur set up the chairs after we see/hear them at the Paris cafe. The...

Re: In What Order Did You See Nolan's Movies?

Batman Begins
The Prestige
The Dark Knight (all of these were opening night in the theater- I was young, but I've loved Nolan immensely since BB)
Memento (I MIGHT have seen this before TDK.. I can't remember)
Insomnia
Following (these two might be in reverse order)
Inception

Re: Favorite scene - The Dark Knight

The interrogation scene is probably my fifth favorite scene of all time. (I need to reevaluate my top scenes after seeing Inception, it's tricky) It's utter brilliance. I mean, what's to be said that others haven't? It completely manifests everyone any of us have ever loved in the entire Batman univ...

Re: I have an issue with Inception I'd like to discuss.

I certainly agree its far more an intimate a story, and I'm aware of the technical aspects of things (like it being shot handheld) and I suppose that answers it. But honestly, even with it being shot handheld for much of it, if they just didn't cut quite as often, I feel like much of what I'm talkin...

Re: I have an issue with Inception I'd like to discuss.

Just my two penn'orth but cut the decision have been with the claustrophobic nature of the story? I mean, the Limbo shots were pretty expansive. they somehow felt closed off from the rest of the world...as if there was nothing beyond what we saw I certainly agree we were meant to see these more as ...

Re: INCEPTION is the movie that defined 2010

I have very little doubt in my mind Nolan will be known as the second version of Kubrick in various styles and substance, and this sense of grandness to all that is undertaken as a filmmaker, and in that sense I absolutely agree with you. People think back and even in terms of general era, amongst a...
