Re: Ready Player One (2018)

I suppose due to the VR aspects of this film it is supposed to look like a video game but I can't say I like what I am seeing from the trailers. Hoping the story it strong enough and it's not just a CGI mess. Spielberg has a had a very poor decade IMHO. Fingers crossed.

I'm still annoyed by this film having seen it a week ago.

Hawkins is tiresome. Del Toro's shameless approach was mediocre and at times repulsive.

Seeing Michael Shannon giving another great performance was worth the trip.

Re: Phantom Thread (2017)

Really excellent film. Only really the final wrap-up that prevents it from being my favorite of the year, for now. Need to see it again before I come to any conclusion. Will try to track down 70mm showing but not sure they ever made it to London. I needed this experience to finally push the trash th...

Re: Rank The Three Amigos (GDT, AGI, Cuaron)

IMHO Cuaron and AGI are leagues ahead of GDT. I disliked The Shape of Water quite a bit (don't get me started on Pacific Rim) I think I just don't like GDTs style.

Re: La La Land (2016)

Saw this last night. While I'm not huge on musicals, I still found this to be very good. Did drag at a couple of points but overall it was charming, Stone and Gosling were great, and I loved the retro approach to the way it was filmed and edited. My experience also. Enjoyed this more than I thought...

Re: Star Wars: The Force (Rey)Awakens (2015)

so like was it obvious to anyone else that Snoke blows up his own projection of himself in order to seem intimidating but when she he see him for real in Ep VIII or IX he'll be like shorter than Yoda or something I agree and hope this is the case. I personally really dislike the character design an...

Can 'Jedi' not also be plural? That would make a big difference.

Re: HBO's The Young Pope

Those stills look gorgeous. Luca Bigazzi is a top cinematographer. I'm used to Sorrentinos style so as far as the clips go they look fine, to me at least. I'm expecting high levels of quirkiness a la 'Il divo' or 'The Family Friend'. Diane Keaton does seem a bit off dialogue wise. Could it be she is...

Re: The Accountant (2016)

This could be great. Affleck looks to be playing it perfectly too, from the trailer at least.
