Re: Dunkirk Official Reviews Discussion

I hope members here don't start freaking out if/when the RT overall rating goes below 90%. We all know Nolan has his detractors and the fact that the movie still managed to become this acclaimed should be celebrated. Statistically improbable as one more good review and its at 92 with 200 critics . ...

Re: Dunkirk Official Reviews Discussion

Not a professional critic, but anyone wanna bet that Doug Walker is gonna dislike this movie? I'd be shocked if he ends up saying that it's anything better than okay.

Re: Dunkirk Official Reviews Discussion

The fact that it is getting such incredible reviews makes me think that an Internet backlash is likely inevitable, especially since there is already a large crowd of people online who think that Nolan is overrated. I can see it being similar to Mad Max: Fury Road and all it's detractors going, "It's...

Re: Dunkirk Industry/Celebrity Buzz

That doesn't seem like a negative review. Like saying it's not the scale people is expecting but that's not a bad thing. Exactly. Maybe he feels it's a GOOD thing that it didn't have the scale he expected. I don't think saying that something is lacking in scale is a compliment. Sounds like he think...

Re: Alien: Covenant (2017)

I also love the original Alien so maybe there's a chance I might like it. I'm going to the marathon tomorrow. I'm still super excited. Even if I don't like Covenant it will be the first time I see Alien and Aliens in the cinema. Yeah, hopefully you'll get more out of it than I did. Although I shoul...

Re: Alien: Covenant (2017)

I'm starting to fear that since I loved Prometheus, I'm gonna dislike this film. If your main interest in this film is because it's a Prometheus sequel, then you will most likely be disappointed. Especially since the reveal of what happened to Dr. Shaw feels like a huge disservice to her character.

Re: Alien: Covenant (2017)

Saw an early screening of it in Chicago. Here's a mostly spoiler-free review: Alien: Covenant might be the best Alien film since James Cameron's Aliens, but that really isn't saying much. I went in hoping that this film would breathe new life into this franchise and help redeem it, especially given ...

Re: Kong: Skull Island (2017)

Yeah, I mean, Godzilla literally grabbing the Muto by the jaws and vomiting his lazer breath through it's fucking head is probably one of my favorite pay offs in recent blockbuster memory. Hell, if this has something like that, I'm down. footage suggest it does so I'm down Without spoiling it, I di...

Re: Kong: Skull Island (2017)

Yeah, it started out better but still it's doing decent, you just made it out like it was Suicide Squad 2.0. As far as I'm concerned, it kinda was. Although Kong at least had more than one decent action sequence unlike SS, so it was better in that respect. But everything else was pretty much on the...

Re: Kong: Skull Island (2017)

Plus I'm confident that critics will share my opinion on this. I predict 25-35% on RT. Well you couldn't have been more wrong. All reviews quite positive thus far. The only "critic" that agrees with you is Chris Stuckmann. Sure, it currently has an 80%, but the average rating from critics is ...
