Yeah on reflection and looking at other reactions coming out of tiff, I frankly don’t see anything topping this for film of the year. Netflix bias from AMPAS aside, this is your BP front runner folks
Haven’t seen MS but Parasite exists

Re: The Irishman (2019)

This could be a watershed moment for Vfx. If the Irishman and Will Smith's Gemini Man effectively pull of convincing de-aging then this may be how movies that have characters taking place over long periods of time are made. Something like casting Ellen Burstyn to play an older version of Jessica Ch...

Re: Ford v. Ferrari (2019)

The writer's "hunch" tells him Bale can't be nominated for best lead? He doesn't really specify why and I truly don't understand. If it's as good as he says there shouldn't be a problem. Plus, there have been no serious contenders this year so far. I assume Phoenix will be a serious contender, Hank...

Re: Ad Astra (2019)

2am thoughts - loved it, gorgeous, far more pulpy than expected from Gray (it felt to me like his ode to not just Apoc Now/Conrad but Blade Runner, a bit 2001/Fifth Element in their vision of future in space, a bit of Equilibrium too) but at the same time maintains that arthouse feel...but you can ...

Then why are they hiding her now? Also wouldn't they naturally want to appeal to both sides by not taking any political stances?
There’s no need to appeal to the HK side; our market is so small that the movie can literally make $0 here and be fine.

Re: Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019)

Yeah he's probably not supposed to be seen as cool he killed his wife? or didn't kill his wife? being accused of killing your wife is pretty bad news. And he lives in a mobile home behind a drive in theater eating boxed mac n cheese for dinner. Is that really an aspirational lifestyle? but th...

I just love Brad Pitt's Cliff Booth, I think about his scenes alot, especially the ones at the Spahn Ranch. He is one of the coolest characters I've scene on film.
Oh god I fear this is exactly what Tarantino feared... (or wanted?)
I don’t think Cliff Booth is supposed to be a “cool” character.

Dig the title. Forgot Phoebe Waller-Brige helped work on the screenplay, which is exciting!
100% confidence with her involvement. Excited!

Re: Parasite (2019)

It's a fantastic genre-bending movie. It really works on most all fronts. However, my feelings are confused on whether the rich family was treated unfairly in this film. Like, the film makes a strong case that whatever happens in the end is because of the actions of the "parasites" but it also does...
