wanna be in a book?

caveat: apologies for the shameless self-promotion. mods, feel free to move if this is in the wrong place. this was honestly my best guess about where it belonged. hey guys, i'm writing a book. it's a collection of essays about movies, sex, drugs, and rap music styled as "a (lonely white boy) hip-ho...

Re: Favorite portrayal of Murph

i'm with the consensus (1. foy, 2. burstyn, 3. chastain) here. foy killed it. MURPH When? COOPER [Silence.] right in the heart. i was impressed with burstyn. she understood the character and tied the movie together beautifully. less so with chastain. like, she's fine, and she gets some scenes very r...

Re: DVD/BLU RAY RELEASE

Mine hasn't arrived yet either... international shipping takes some time, it's not supposed to be here for like 2 weeks dammit. On top of that I can't really afford to go out and get the Wal Mart exclusive or even just the regular Blu. I really want to see it though and I don't know if I can wait f...

Re: DVD/BLU RAY RELEASE

well, finally allowed myself to re-watch the movie on video. not the same experience as imax, unsurprisingly, but still makes me sad that i might not get it to see it on the big screen again. the movie held its emotional impact remarkably well. i cried several times in a living room full of people. ...

Re: Homage to 2001. Screen shots

Yes, but people are overstating the direct visual influence. Funnily enough the constant references to 2001 likely undermined the critical reception even if it helped sell Interstellar as a must-see cultural event (and thus helped the box office). -Vader yeah, plus most of those critical assessment...

Re: Homage to 2001. Screen shots

diego,

had the same thought last night while watching. the fact that case, who resembles the obelisk from 2001, is with brand on the planet only makes it more exciting.

Re: Interstellar Oscar Chances

aiight, that's fine. i was just catching up with what had happened and wanted to add my $0.02. on the internet, nobody knows you're a dog etc. not to get too white-knight-y, but the problem was that your remark implied that her being illogical (which she wasn't, for the record) was somehow related t...

Re: Interstellar Oscar Chances

 This guy Make that... this GIRL. Well I'd apologize if you weren't acting so nonsensical to begin with a) when someone points out that you made an incorrect assumption about gender, it's usually a poor idea to respond with a sexist remark. b) what is even your argument at this point? c...

Re: Interstellar Oscar Chances

If you liked Birdman, watch John Cassavetes' Opening Night and Aronofsky's Black Swan as the stories are so similar, it's surprising the screenwriters didn't thank Cassavetes and Mark Heyman. I hated Birdman. It thought it was trendy and hip and it was empty, superficial and full of the most OTT ac...
