Re: Mank (TBD)

Just want to say that people really needs to stop bitching on Netflix considering how they're consistently being the ones funding great directors' passion projects that would never get financed elsewhere.

Who cares if you don't see it in a theater if you can't see it at all.

Re: HBO's Big Little Lies

Explains this season's weird editing and short scenes/runtimes. Main problem of the season is still Kelley's scripts imo. Arnold got fucked over, but I still think JMV is by far the best filmmaker between the two. Everyone on Twitter is calling him a corporate hack... he literally created and perfec...

Re: Your Favorite Directors

David Lynch Coen Brothers Stanley Kubrick Quentin Tarantino Alfonso Cuaron Paul Thomas Anderson Denis Villeneuve Bong Joon-Ho I love a ton of others (Scorsese, Nolan, Fincher, Lanthimos, Waititi, Johnson just on the top of my head) but these 8 really are it for me right now. Re: Knives Out (2019)

Man that cast... and it essentially feels like a chamber piece, so they'll all act out of each other for much of the runtime which is really cool compared to other stacked casts like OUATIH or Dune.

Definitely seems to has a Brothers Bloom-whimsical tone which is unexpected

Day 1 for me.

Re: Netflix's Stranger Things

I'm worried Season 3 is going to be 100% safe fan-service stuff after the backlash of S2 lost sister stuff which was the only really expansion of the world/mythology. Not to say it was good, it was awfully bad. And to be perfectly honest, I'd completely forgot what happened in Season 2 which is not ...

Re: HBO's Big Little Lies

So, without spoilers please, is this second season worth a shot? Definitely. If you like the actresses and the characters, it's still mostly delightful and Arnold fills Vallée's shoes almost perfectly. Plot and writing-wise there's a lot to be desired imo, but there's still 5 eps left, so who knows

Re: HBO's Big Little Lies

This just feel unnecessary

And as fun as Streep is in the role, I just can't buy her character as a real person and that's a problem.

They should just have make the second season all about Laura Dern. There's just never enough of her

Re: Nightmare Alley (TBD)

Del Toro has been doing Del Toro for the past 20 years. I don't think he ''found'' himself recently. He's doing whatever he wants to do and I hope he continues to do so j And I think the production design & cinematography is gorgeous everytime. His script are most of time the big problem for me. Pre...

In case anyone’s wondering (or are too lazy to look this up (as I usually am)), Andre Holland, Cold War’s Joanna Kulig, Amandla Stenberg and Tahar Rahim are starring in this.
Wrong Chazelle show
