Why was Christian Bale so poor in this?
Bale's performance in TDK is solid. He brings the character to life, he convincingly emotes and conveys Bruce's/Batman's struggles, and in no way gives a good performance. I think the perception of a "poor" performance comes from Dent being the protagonist of the film, rather than Bruce/Batman. This...

The Big Thing Missing Thematically: Bruce’s Catharsis
I think your analysis is solid, and I don't disagree that having a more explicitly shown change in Bruce would have helped seal it. Except! Nolan (and WB) aren't above thrilling the crowd and milking the experience for all its worth. A major point of buzz/wondering going into the film was "Would Bat...

Did Christian Bale fail to make an impact as Batman?
Of the three Nolan films, I think only TDK supports a charge of sidelining Batman - or, more specifically, sidelining his character arc and prominence - over supporting characters. BEGINS is extremely Bruce/Batman-centric, and does a very good job exploring and developing both sides of the character...

Who else could of played Bane?
[pedant rant on]
I can't take it anymore. The thread should be titled "Who else could have played Bane?"
I know the contract of "could have" ("could've") sounds like "could of," but "could of" makes no sense.

Hans Zimmer's TDKR Soundtrack
Out of curiosity, how did those four suites get online? If Zimmer worked on them but never released them, wouldn't it take someone close to him leaking the files? I don't doubt they're real, I just wonder about their origin and how they got online for us to enjoy.

Cillian Murphy as Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow
I am fairly sure the "five years" is finding its way into various dialogues re: timelines between/among the films because it's mentioned in the "Art and Making of" book for the trilogy. Except it's from Christopher Nolan himself, and he's referencing not the actual chronology of the films, but Bruce...

TDKR Box Office
I really don't think THE CAMPAIGN will top TDKR's weekend take. Political films - especially political comedies - don't tend to be big box office, and I can't see even Will Ferrell pulling this over TDKR's weekend take. I do think BOURNE will win the weekend, but it won't be a huge showing.

Likelihood of a directors cut?
Depends, on how he has handled directors cut's in the past I wasn't aware of any director's cuts from Nolan on previous films. TDKR would be the one that seems to warrant it. We know, from official and unofficial sources, of scenes and parts that were filmed but not included - segments that could c...

Plot Holes {SPOILERS}
The film features a LOT of cinematic shorthand, and Nolan expects the viewer to fill in a lot of the things not explicitly shown or explained onscreen. Whether it works for you or not is going to vary from viewer to viewer. Two interesting examples: Bruce returning to Gotham and knowing about the re...
