Re: ⊃∪∩⪽ ρ⩀⊇⊤ ⊙∩⋵ (2021)
The hand-to-hand combat scenes were mostly mid shots that were very quickly cut, feeling perfunctory. As much shit as Nolan gets for his hand-to-hand combat scenes, yet...it goes to show that Villeneuve has fewer haters online. No one has mentioned this. I guess neither is going to direct Hong Kong...

if a sensorily assaultive Japanese surreal satire hitman exploitation movie sounds appealing to you, boy can not recommend Branded to Kill enough. Brilliant, and brilliant genre fun. My favorite Suzuki. -Vader Yeah after watching half a dozen of his 60s films, it's obvious that he peaked with this ...

Re: Mank (2020)
Fincher replicated reel change over cue marks, but then AR was not 1.37. Not that such cue marks were inherent to 1.37 only. Not having an AR of 1.37 just felt like a huge contradiction, considering what else is being achieved stylistically. Though I read that Fincher and Messerschmidt did some tes...

Re: Mank (2020)
The screenplay was so dense, and unlike anything Fincher has handled before including TSN. I'm still trying to wrap my head around it. Of course the craft at hand is phenomenal, even the performances. But the writing left me wanting more. It did feel like a history lesson quite a few times. Will try...

The only thing disappointing with Cameron is that he would eventually be giving almost 30 years of his career to Avatar films, when he made some hands down amazing films in the first 13 years of his career. Tenet (2020) First half was dumb fun. But post that it was a constant barrage of absolute bat...

Mangrove and RWB are very solid films. But Lovers Rock was on some other level only. Can't wait for the last two.

if y'all didnt listen to artemis listen to me The Heiress bangs hard theatrical styling mixed with mike leigh levels of authentic characters and specific situations. it's tight and composed yet /alive/. to me it's very noble in that all the drama of the film is exclusively drawn from the characters...

Re: Last Film You Watched? VI
Been on a South Korean cinema binge with my roommate since I finally got around to seeing The Wailing , which I thought was an astounding piece of work. Other films I've checked out this week include Memories of Murder , Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance , and The Chaser . While I found the latter two to ...
