Favorite Cinematography?

Surprised few of you mentioned Hitchcock's or Kubrick's films. Vertigo & Psycho are the best photographed Hitchcock films. While The Shining and 2001 are the best from Kubrick. Malick's films all have gorgeous cinematography as well. (I especially like the look of Days of Heaven - wonderfully captur...

Re: What was the last movie you've watched?

He's losing respect to loud morons on the internet. Hollywood still knows whose their daddy. Exactly. I actually think his last decade (2000s) produced some of the better films in his filmography. Sure he made three Sci-fi films during this period, but that shouldn't degrade what he accomplished. W...

Re: Favourite movies of 2010

It has a slightly different formula for each genre, but I break down the aspects of a film (Acting, Cinematography, Story/Script quality, etc...) and assign them percentages (out of 100 of course) based on how important I believe each aspect is to a film. The aspects vary depending upon the genre; ...

Re: James Cameron About Hollywood These Days

Originality always exists and will continue to exist, maybe the Hollywood studio system has its flaws and most blockbusters (studio tent-poles) nowadays are not original. But we as the audience need to look beyond the usual commercial blockbusters to search for fresh flavors. There are so many talen...

Re: Director's Challenge Round 1 Matchups

Yes that's right RIFA. I am going to call discoveringuy's vote the tiebreaker and give the win to Kubrick. So this round is now closed. Nah. I don't think that would be fair. More people should be able to cast the tie-breaking votes before the winner of this match-up is determined. I in no way shou...

The word "overrated" is excessively overused. If you don't like him then fair enough just say so. He is neither overrated nor underrated.

Re: Your Favorite Terrence Malick Movies

I recommend all his films as they are all beautifully made and filled with penetrating insights into human conditions. His films require you to watch more than once and really think in order to understand. Not that they have any structurally complex stories or anything, but nor are they formulated f...

It is not a big deal I know teddy here agrees with me as well.
I wouldn't mind calling it one of the worst films of 2009. But not of all time.
