Re: Desus & Mero

The brand is what? Stronger than ever.

The fact that they got AOC for their first episode is insane. Political analysts will be busy urban dictionary-ing all of Desus & Mero’s puns, lol. I hope Desus’s third eye is open and wreaks havoc.

Re: Football Discussion Thread

What's a non-eurocentric view of what "formulates a nation state"? The nation state is largely a western construction That was my point. It does not understand the formulations outside of those boundaries, like that Saudis are not innately different from Qataris or Kuwaitis or Emiratis. Lebanese ar...

Re: Football Discussion Thread

I feel like that is coming from a eurocentric view of what formulates a nation-state. I am getting way off topic here so I’ll leave it as, no it’s not the same. The history of the Arab world from 1700s onwards has had dozens and dozens of attempts at unity in the face of colonialist and imperialists...

Re: Football Discussion Thread

I wish you could see that we are all, one people. Arab or otherwise.£ Sorry, but this counterargument sounds reminiscent to the colour-blind “liberal” nonsense that we should only see one human race. I really dislike these types of deflections because the reality is we are all not in this together....

Re: Football Discussion Thread

Congratulations Qatar for their historic win in the Asian cup. I love that Arabs from other countries celebrated this win as their own. That made me happy. We should support each other regardless of our political difference. Whenever I fly thousands of miles to other Arab countries and hear the lang...

Re: Sexual Abuse in Hollywood

Has anyone seen Surviving R. Kelly yet? That was a rough watch. I wanted to crawl out of my skin. I don’t have the heart to continue watching any of the upcoming episodes, each episode gets more disturbing. All the adults who enabled this man to carry on with the abuse and did nothing to protect tho...

Re: What Was the Last Episode of TV You Watched

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia

I just finished watching season 13, I don’t know, I get the sense that the gang is not interested in the show anymore. This was a weak season, easily my least favourite. The jokes were awkward, I barely chuckled at them. Something was off with this season.

Re: Netflix/Channel 4's Black Mirror

I got to enjoy Bandersnatch without guilt, my wife chose all the fucked up decisions, lol. My main take away from Bandersnatch was “we are all Stefan” in a sense. Netflix only gave us the illusion of choice. We are directed into choices, it kind of felt like that we are being controlled. Thoroughly ...
