Re: 'The Prestige' is More Original Then 'Inception'
Thinking some more about my favourite scene in "Inception"; Fischer talking to his Dad in the dream scene, the 'inception' moment, which I mentioned on page 7, ( other than some superb mindblowing "sets" simply for the spectacle that is ), and: I had already suggested ( above/on page 7 ) that one of...

Re: 'The Prestige' is More Original Then 'Inception'
... its very tough getting through the beginning...and the snow fortress action is shot in such a boring way. I agree. I left the film on in the background with sound down, and with your comment in mind I kept an eye open for the snow fortress scenes and it really is astonishing how dull, uninspire...

Re: 'The Prestige' is More Original Then 'Inception'
I finally got to see "Inception", ( a few weeks ago ), after months waiting for the DVD here in France, and have to say that although on first viewing it is effectively suspenseful, visually exciting/exhilarating, fairly engaging emotionally etc, and does involve some pretty original ideas, concepts...

Re: Inception and a generaltional divide?
Brilliant article, thanks for posting it. :) Very interesting the parallels he draws with video/computer games, and how people ( younger people, but me too, at 46 :lol ), want films that they have to work out, films which include the viewer ( you become Poirot, Holmes, etc ) by demanding that you so...

Wow! Thank you very much for all the interesting and friendly replies! :D I am actually english, but have been living in France for 12 years now, and although the advent of DVD's and Amazon have made it much easier for me to see, and buy, films in english, if I want to see a film on the big screen I...

Re: Should I wait for VO or risk the french dub?

Should I wait for VO or risk the french dub?
Hello! New nolan fan here, ( and very glad this site exists ), who loves "Memento" and "The Prestige", but have only ever seen them on DVD on small screen, ( I didn't know about Nolan until about a year ago! :O ) ... several times now. :D I will definitely be buying the DVD of "Inception" when it co...

Re: movies like prestige?
"Gosford Park" is pretty complex, gripping, beautiful to look at, and improves signifcantly on second and third viewing in exactly the same way as "The Prestige", when understand the implications of things better etc. "Brazil" is gripping, weird, complex, and about a "dream" that someone has, vs a w...
