Re: Oppenheimer - Awards Speculation

Imagine being a kid born in 1970 and growing up on legendary movies like Jaws, Close Encounters, Indiana Jones, and ET. Forty years later, you are handed a Best Director trophy by Spielberg. That’s gotta be the most incredible feeling for Nolan.

Hoyte just won the ASC award for Best Cinematography. Jennifer Lame won the ACE award for Best Editing. Sure looks like those Oscars are locked up for the 2 of them!

Re: Oppenheimer - Awards Speculation

I agree that the lack of screenplay recognition is perplexing...but that seems to be the standard set from the get-go with these different organizations handing out awards, Oppenheimer is good enough to be nominated but not win. Also, they tend to award screenplays that have snappy dialogue, even t...

Brutally Honest Oscar Ballot No. 1: https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/academy-voter-shares-oscar-votes-1235837796/ If there's a movie that would beat "Oppenheimer", I'm thinking it would be "The Zone of Interest". I've seen a few of these anonymous voting ballots, and Zone has bee...

whats the hype about?
I watched American Fiction this evening. Pretty damn good. The dialogue is very sharp, very funny. Easy to see why this movie is getting a lot of support for Best Script awards in recent weeks and months.

Re: Oppenheimer - Awards Speculation

I agree with you but I think Oppenheimer’s popularity (among other reasons perhaps) makes some people believe already this is Nolan's "overdue" if it wins. I have already seen multiple people come up with remarks like that, and maybe you all have too. I, for one, was (still kind do) hoping it would...

Re: Oppenheimer - Awards Speculation

I'm a little worried that we may see a dark horse win out of nowhere like in 2019 (1917 won the PGA, GG and BAFTA Best Picture, but lost to Parasite at the Oscars). Personally it was a deserved win cause I liked it a lot more than 1917 but still, I'd pissed if I betted for 1917 that night lol Paras...
