Re: What are Interstellar's Flaws?

"Was one of these actually a flaw in the movie? Interstellar is science-fiction" But so many are saying the science in the movie is "dead-on." Is this supposed to be a "realistic" movie or not? Trying to have it both ways? Perhaps my definition of "flaw" is not the same as other folks'. I accept that.

Re: What are Interstellar's Flaws?

Many of these may already have been addressed, but I'm not going to read through all previous posts. I'm limiting my comments to technical flaws/questions. I don't think there are spoilers here. -Magic "blight" that attacks across different species? A stretch. Wait, I saw grass growing. Wheat and ri...

Re: 'Interstellar' Reviews Discussion

"Hard science guy".... Listen, I'm about as hard a science guy as there is. If you can't enjoy this movie, that's not the real reason why. And as Vesh says below me, a lot of that article is total bunk. Okay. Is the author: a) Misrepresenting what actually happens in the movie, or b) scientifically...

Re: 'Interstellar' Reviews Discussion

I was afraid of this. http://www.slate.com/articles/health_and_science/space_20/2014/11/interstellar_science_review_the_movie_s_black_holes_wormholes_relativity.html (Warning: fairly serious spoilers) I'm a "hard science" guy. I can suspend my disbelief quite a bit with a really really good movie, b...

I was wondering what the hell he was talking about there. Is he referring to that famous fan poster?
I don't think so. Either he's made a very sloppy mistake, or he really, REALLY doesn't understand what's going on in the movie. Or anything about planetary science.

Re: 'Interstellar' Reviews Discussion

Almost every review makes a comparison to "2001" at some point.

I'm glad the writers recognize the gold standard for just what it is- the gold standard. Still. 46 years later.

Re: 'Interstellar' Reviews Discussion

While we don't know its exact mass, we can be sure that its Schwarzschild radius is much larger than a planet based on the perspectives of these two shots: http://imgur.com/a/BJAVW Only a supermassive black hole in the million/billion solar mass range could be that big. Very obviously true. It just...
