Re: Fantastic Four (2015)

Seemed like something really tricky to adapt properly a la the Hulk franchise? First two condemned for the whole cheesy, campy shtick, now Tranks' version getting done for the paper thin and moreso the self-serious thing (that's apparently unacceptable now for superhero movies? :problem: ) That said...

Re: Quay

Surprising yet unsurprising at the same time that Chris has gone for this. He's said that he still wants to do big-scale movies while he can, yet he's always been an advocate of independent cinema. I shall look for the Blu-Ray upon dropping!

Hell I was worried something would actually come of the shit people stirred up about the sound being amateur and muddled. Thankfully sense prevailed.

But Hoyta left out in the cold. That's downright pigheadedness and unforgivable considering what the man accomplished.

Re: Interstellar Oscar Chances

Now seems the right time for accurate noms and win predictions imo (wins in bold) ; Best Visual Effects Best Sound Editing Best Sound Mixing Best Cinematography Best Editing Best Original Score BP seems a long way off at this point. Can see about 9 noms for that one with maybe TGBH taking Interstell...

Re: Exodus: Gods and Kings (2014)

Kinda deflated Ridley still hasn't found his grove, following on Robin Hood and Prometheus and The Counsellor . Judging by the reactions, obviously. Even though I enjoyed the latter two it's harsh to see Scott being viewed with dismay from critics who'd expect better from 'The Director Of 'Alien' an...

Re: Unbroken (2014)

I was actually thinking about EL&IC in relation to this. That shit was actually embarrassing to all involved. If that could get a BP nom, and just to make clear I would rather chew glass than watch that a second time, then there's no reason Unbroken can't get a lotta nominations, even if everyone an...

So we're still on for those BP and BD nominations right?

Right?

Re: Unbroken (2014)

Judging by early reviews words it looks like it went down the Oscar-bait route (big surprise there) and very unsuccessfully too. Disappointing considering it had decent talent behind it (Deakins, the Coens) but ultimately something that panders for awards attention using every staple in the book sho...
