Eva Green and Naomi Watts Cast in The Dark Knight Rises?

watts green tdkrises Eva Green and Naomi Watts Cast in The Dark Knight Rises?

As the more or less confirmed May start start date for The Dark Knight Rises grows closer each day, fanboys (and girls!) everywhere grow antsy in anticipation of official news. In the void left by lack of official news grow rumors. Many of them. The latest and most interesting rumors come to us from the folks over at Collider. Today they reported a couple rumors given to them by confidential yet reliable or trustworthy sources.

The first rumor, as you can guess from my rather plain but descriptive title, is that Eva Green (Casino Royal) and Naomi Watts (King Kong) have been cast in The Dark Knight Rises. A source told them Eva Green is set to play the role of Talia al Ghul, daughter of Ra’s al Ghul (Liam Neeson’s character in Batman Begins) and possible baddie. Naomi Watts will play Vicki Vale, photojournalist and possible love interest to Bruce Wayne – a character who also appeared in Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman. Collider has been unable to confirm this rumor, and another website listed several other actresses who are supposedly still in talks for a role in the film and even go as far as to rule out Green and Watts. They do however believe that Talia al Ghul is a definite character appearing in the film.

A different source let slip some details on the new Batmobile and Batcave. The previous two installments in the franchise set up the need for replacements for them both. The source tells Collider that the Tumbler is being redesigned to be more sleek, but still powerful. The “new” Batcave will be essentially be the same as the one in Batman Begins, but they’re adding a bay for the Tumbler, and areas for computer systems and Batsuits, presumably similar to the ones in The Dark Knight.

Lastly, Collider is reporting and essentially confirming the May to November production dates that Michael Caine mentioned a couple months back. Their first source cites May 6th as the start of production, and November 28th as the end. Sounds pretty dope to me. What do you think about all of this? I think some of it seems pretty reliable or believable at least. Much more so than some of the other rumors flying around.

Christopher Nolan Scouting For A Batman 3 Female Lead

female bat Christopher Nolan Scouting For A Batman 3 Female Lead

According to MovieHole.net, Warner Bros. is switching Batman 3 into a “higher gear” this week as director Christopher Nolan and producers Emma Thomas & Charles Roven meet with candidates for the new female lead in the superhero film. Just the other week we learned that Tom Hardy had landed an undefined lead role in the Dark Knight followup, and this week an “insider” told MovieHole that several young ladies are meeting with the team of filmmakers to talk about a mystery role in the most anticipated movie of 2012.

So who is Gotham’s new gal? Is it a replacement lover for Billionaire Bruce? Or is it – as my insider also suspects (but he can’t be sure; again, Nolan has the lid shut tight on this thing) – the oft-rumoured Catwoman? “Some of the beauties coming in to chat with Christopher, would suggest that”, we’re told.

I think either scenario is likely, though I am hoping for the former rather than the latter. Right now we’re going to keep this in the rumor bin along with a couple other theories being thrown around lately. You can head over to MovieHole to get the full scoop.

Casting Grid Reveals Riddler Listed as Batman 3 Villian

riddler logo Casting Grid Reveals Riddler Listed as Batman 3 Villian

FirstShowing.net is reporting they have a “reliable inside source” with a studio casting grid that has The Riddler listed as the villian for Batman 3. With this year’s San Diego Comic Con starting up this week, many have been suspecting some sort of announcement regarding the much anticipated follow-up to 2008′s The Dark Knight. Rumors surrounding this project have been absolutely bonkers in the past, but FirstShowing is saying “this news should be considered confirmation that The Riddler is the villain” in Batman 3. They’re also saying that the actor currently listed on that same casting grid is none other than Inception‘s Joseph Gordon-Levitt. He is listed as “interested” next to The Riddler, despite the age listed for the mysterious villian being 35-45. Joe is only 29 by the way. So how accurate could this all be? They want to keep the JGL part listed a rumor, but The Riddler part as confirmed.

Is Chris Columbus Directing ‘Man of Steel’?

Posted on Thursday, July 8th, 2010 at 1:45 pm by TeddyBlass

ChrisColumbus Is Chris Columbus Directing Man of Steel? So here’s an opportunity to take your mind off of Inception for a couple minutes – MTV SplashPage is reporting that Chris Columbus (the man behind the first two Harry Potter films) is rumored to have been offered the job to direct the next Superman movie. The screenplay, as you know, is being written by Batman Begins scribe David S. Goyer and is rumored to be titled Man of Steel. Christopher Nolan decided to oversee the project in a producer-like role after Goyer told the Dark Knight director ‘I have this thought about how you would approach Superman’ sometime earlier this year.

Since then, David S. Goyer himself and Christopher Nolan’s brother Jonathan have both been rumored to be under consideration to direct the new Superman. But MTV is reporting that Columbus is said to be “the right fit” for the superhero film according to insiders at Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures. Could they be this far in the process of setting up the film?

More recently, Christopher Nolan told MTV News that his current focus is on fine tuning the right story for Superman rather than finding the right actor.

“It’s all about figuring out exactly the tone and meaning of the story and how you’re going to approach it,” said Nolan. “Casting comes later, and all of those considerations come later.”

Read the full article over at MTV SplashPage to get the full scoop. What do you think of Chris Columbus directing Man of Steel? Is he the right fit?

UPDATE (July 13, 2010): It looks like this rumor has been busted. Chris Columbus will not be directing Man of Steel.

Jonathan Nolan Directing The Man of Steel?

Posted on Friday, February 26th, 2010 at 4:14 pm by George

Jonathan Nolan Directing The Man of Steel? With numerous (and fairly unbelievable) The Man of Steel rumors flying around over the past week, it seemed unlikely that they could possibly come together to form a truth. And although this may just be another interesting rumor to be considered and tossed out in another week, IESB may have hit on something that rings truer and potentially makes some sense of what has been said recently about the Nolans and The Man of Steel.

Now to get a few things straight, the rumors put Christopher Nolan as the ‘Godfather’ figure to the project (presumably due to his very successful work rebooting Batman) with Jonathan Nolan and David Goyer writing the screenplay. But, according to IESB, word is that Chris Nolan’s involvement is more to help out his brother Jonathan than, say, just to help out Warner Bros. get another franchise off the ground. The rumblings go further to mention that the reason Chris would want to be in this type of role is that The Man of Steel will be Jonathan Nolan’s directorial debut.

On the one hand it seems a little crazy that Warner Bros. would let Jonathan Nolan take on a $200-million Superman film for his first outing as director. But with Chris’ support and the respect Warner Bros. has for the Nolan team, it does feel in the realm of possibility. IESB’s rumor mill continues on to put Christopher Nolan as the director of the future Justice League movie. Although intriguing, I think that’s one that just needs to stay completely in the rumor mill for now.
