This morning the 87th Academy Awards Nominations were announced, and including nominations for Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar in five categories: Best Original Score, Best Production Design, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, Best Visual Effects. The film was not nominated for any major awards like Best Picture or Best Directing, and there were no nominations for any of the wonderful performances in the film.

Composer Hans Zimmer has one of the best chances of his career since his win nearly 20 years ago for The Lion King. He posted a note of gratitude on Facebook after being nominated this morning; you can read that here. The film also holds a strong chance of taking away the other categories it was nominated for, despite controversy over the sound in the film. How do you feel about the nominations this year?
