You know what drives me up the wall…?! The cowl version of the trilogy isn’t available to us North of the US border. Not entirely upset as I can save this money to buy myself something else, perhaps the 30th Anniversary edition of Blade Runner. I should have waited to pick up the films on Blu-Ray, but I couldn’t wait to watch them over and over again. Besides, there seemed to be at one point speculation that Nolan wasn’t going to do a third.

Just so somebody does it, here’s a lowdown from a non-fanboy perspective (this isn’t to say I’m not a fanboy):

I hope this doesn’t come across as patronizing or condescending, but 5 discs = 1 for Batman Begins, 2 for The Dark Knight, and 2 for The Dark Knight Rises. Same as the already available BB & TDK Blu Rays and TDKR’s standalone Blu Ray release. Nothing new there except different packaging, as both BB and TDK are retaining their initial Blu Ray transfers. *Many of us already have the 1st two movies on Blu Ray, I’m sure*, so, unless you consider not having both the book and TDKR as your reason for double dipping (which I have the book, incidentally), the trilogy set isn’t really worth the buy for TDKR, if you ask me.

I’ll be using whatever money I saved by buying the standalone TDKR Blu Ray release to go ahead and get the Criterion Collection’s Blu Ray release of Following.

Who necessarily says it was a 100% WB’s choice? I still find it hard to believe Nolan doesn’t have any say in the matter… At the very least Nolan might feel quite insulted if WB would put them on without his consent. I’m more disappointed with the fact that it seems we’ve now forever lost the prologue-voice over of Hardy (in dvd/blu-quality). As much as I liked him, I liked about 50% of his prologue lines more than the film’s re-dub…

Not surprised at all there is no commentary. Nolan doesn’t like doing it. But no deleted scenes is a HUGE mistake on WB’s part, and very disappointing.
