Because the world doesn’t allow you to like things equally.
Plus the fan bases consist of a large group of underaged kids.

Having a conversation about let’s say Casablanca, Gone with the Wind or Citizen Kane
you wouldn’t have this problem. Most of the people who watch these movies are above the
age of 20. Even if there are people who are under 20 watching it, they respect the films enough
to watch them instead of something madei in post 2000.

Exactly this.
2-D movie: 8 euro’s, 3-D movie: 11 euro’s.
That’s almost a full 3 euro profit because running 3-D movies isn’t that much more expensive.

Thats not what im disagreeing with. Its very possible that if the shootings hadn’t happened it wouldve grossed more than the dark knight (even though it doesn’t have the oscar buzz behind it like the dark knight did).

What im disagreeing with is the people who are saying it would have beaten the avengers.

I understand why people instantly compare The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises, but why do they instantly hate the opposed, what’s wrong with liking both. For The Avengers, Marvel set it up wonderfully , I knew it was going to be huge in the box office because it was always leading up to that moment. I knew The Dark Knight Rises was also going to be huge, it was the Epic Conclusion.

When The Avengers or any Marvel franchise completes a great trilogy than it has my permission to be greater than. DC invented the superhero. WB invented the superhero film, and with Nolan the first truly great and complete superhero film trilogy. So far Whedon’s delivered one very good team film. Not a first. X2 did it first. Hopefully Whedon hasn’t blown his wad. Favreau did with Iron Man because IM2 blew.

Haters are such dicks. Of course the tragedy affected domestic box office. The initial midnight intake was $30 mill. All those late night and overnight showings after, that would have been sold out, obviously were affected if not cancelled altogether. What general public would feel comfortable sitting in a darkened theater at 2 or 3am after the shootings?? Ads were pulled and a pall shrouded what would have been a celebratory weekend. The distance kept the overseas take pretty unaffected and if any further proof, this is the first Batman film to do better internationaly. DKR was the most anticipated movie of the year. It really would have come closer to Avengers’ cume and without the benefit 3D/IMAX/re-release.

You can’t disagree that at the worldwide box office it’s beaten the Dark Knight, because it did. Therefore making your comparisons with the Dark Knight redundant. If the shootings hadn’t happened it no doubt would have beaten the Dark Knight in the US too.
