Warner Home Video announced today they will be releasing a 7-disc Christopher Nolan Director’s Collection on Blu-ray for sale starting June 26th. Included in the collection will be Memento, Insomnia, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and Inception — aka all of his features except Following and The Prestige. The collection will include special features for each movie, 10 collectible photo cards, a 40-page photo book with images from the films, and a Movie Cash voucher good for $8 off the cost of a The Dark Knight Rises ticket.

The collection presents each film in its original 2.39:1 aspect ratio, with occasional shifts to 1.78:1 for The Dark Knight, and with 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio tracks — 5.1 Dolby TrueHD for Batman Begins. Warner Home Video licensed Lionsgate‘s 10th Anniversary Edition of Memento, so their new director approved master should be present in this collection. There is no word on whether The Dark Knight or Batman Begins have received new transfers.

Retail will be around $50 for the 5 film collection. It’s a shame The Prestige and Following can’t be included in this package, as a true ‘complete’ package of the director’s filmography would be ideal. Oh well.      Where do we order? :D

  • Jamie

Is this collection only avaliable in the US?

Wonder why they left The Prestige out.

It will start popping up on sites like Amazon for pre-order soon.

Except for Following which doesn’t have a Blu-ray release, I already own all of Nolan’s films on Blu-ray so I’m gonna pass on this. This could be a good Father’s Day gift though since my dad’s a huge fan of Nolan films.

Disney owns the distribution rights to The Prestige.

Ah. Didn’t realize that, as I thought it was all WB. Thanks.

I hate when they do this after I own all of them on Blu-Ray already.

  • Peteagassi

Come on, NO Dark Knight Rises Prologue in the features?!

  • Daniel Perez

An absurd!! And the script of Insomnia is not from Nolan. I hope at the end of the year they release with at least The Prestige and TDKRises! :)

  • JasperDLab

It would’ve been nice if they included the prologue for TDKR as they did for TDK prologue with the BB blu ray release.

Not holding my breath on a new transfer for TDK, though that would have been nice too.

SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!!!!

  • Matt Solano

It’d be nice to get a new transfer for Batman Begins and DTS-HD MA audio for both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

  • Nikhil Sunil

I was hoping they would include Following. Not surprised they didn’t.
    Would’ve been great though.

  • Thiv Para

yeah, and then dark knight rises comes after that lol

(Regarding the currently available Blu Ray transfers of Nolan’s films)
Well, the Blu Ray transfers for Batman Begins and The Dark Knight are pretty damn good. The audio on both is completely spectacular and top notch, and with the exception of some slight hard film grain on BB and light edge enhancement on some of the IMAX footage on TDK, the visuals on both are already top notch. A new transfer could only be a minor improvement overall, speaking in positives. Inception is even better than both of those, and may be one of the single best Blu Rays available overall on the market (even better than many Criterion releases, in terms of transfers). Memento’s 10th Anniversary release and Insomnia each have very good Blu Rays already. Its a shame The Prestige won’t be included, as that has a better transfer than those last two. If I were to rank the Blu Ray transfers:

    1. Inception – 9.75/10 (Only not a 10 because there are still some better Blu Ray transfers out there that do exceed it)
    2. The Dark Knight – 9.5/10
    3. The Prestige – 9.25/10
    4. Batman Begins – 9.0/10
    5. Memento – 8.75/10
    6. Insomnia – 8.5/10

Reason I bring that up is because, with the exception of the book and the photo cards, you’re not getting much else if you already have the Blu Rays for Nolan’s films (which, I, like many of us, already have). Save your Nolan Blu Ray money for December, as that’s when The Dark Knight Rises will probably be released, and if the rumors are true, The Criterion Collection will be releasing Following on Blu Ray.

I was expecting ‘The Dark Knight’ director’s cut on blu-ray. Many fans already own the blu-ray for those titles.

As many have said, a shame The Prestige is not on there. I will not be buying this set but I will certaily look for the book on ebay.

How the hell is The Prestige not in here?

Give your father the ones you already have and keep the collection! :P

  • Sathish

    Ya i’ll….

  • robbman

New Transfer or not, I’m assuming this is just the existing blu-rays that are already individually available. No new extras or anything. So yeah, I’ll be passing on this unless these offer something new of substance.

    Why no Prestige?

  • Ethan

    Yeah! Predicted this shit, baby!
