UPDATE (July 11, 2011): The teaser trailer for The Dark Knight Rises is real and has a running time of 1 minute and 26 seconds! The trailer was recently reviewed and classified by the Government of Alberta, which classifies all trailers that play in Alberta’s movie theaters. They have a list of recently classified trailers that details the date a trailer received its classification, which classification it has earned, and the running time of the trailer. Well today Trailer #1 for The Dark Knight Rises popped up on said list with a PG classification and a 1:26 running time. That running time likely doesn’t include the green band in front of the trailer. A photo released by a member (film4life) on SSH also confirms that the trailer will be attached to 2D and 3D showings of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2. No word on when it will officially be online.

Rumors and speculation have long placed the teaser trailer for The Dark Knight Rises in front of showings of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, but now SuperHeroHype is turning that rumor into a trumor. According to the exclusive report by the popular superhero news site, a “trustworthy source” has informed them that a 1 minute and 33 second teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises will play with both 2D and IMAX 3D prints of the final Harry Potter film when it is released next week. We’ve tried to get this confirmed through some of our own sources, with no luck, but that doesn’t give us any real reason to distrust this report. SuperHeroHype is also claiming a teaser poster for the final Nolan directed Batman film is planned to hit theaters next week. Are you excited? I believe the rumor, and I can’t wait! Hopefully WB is smart and releases it online on (or before) Friday. Now I know you and Alex are big Harry Potter fans, but you’re also trying to avoid TDKR’s trailers. Are you going to turn your heads and cover your ears?

Nice, that’s quite a bit longer than the Inception and Dark Knight teasers. Hopefully that means there will be some actual footage in it (I was expecting only voice overs like the first TDK teaser).

whether this is true or not, the time length is what i’m unsure about. i mean, a teaser for dkr seems a little early for me, especially with them still shooting. if a teaser is released, i’ll be surprised that nolan would have footage shown this early. they’ve been trying to keep things pretty tight w/releasing footage so i doubt anything major would be shown.

i can definitely see them releasing a similar teaser to dk w/the bat logo & the voices of various characters, mentioning significant moments within the film & finishing off with a summer 2012 release. easily, i can see the teaser being 20-30 seconds long. i mean that’s what the teaser is mainly for…to tease & remind the audience that another batman film is in the works if the major public doesn’t already know.

to be honest, i wouldn’t get my hopes high. if this is true & a teaser is released then that’s cool. i just don’t expect much to be revealed. more likely, another trailer will be released later in the year that i’m sure will get people talking & dissecting every aspect shown.

still can’t wait for the final product.

I think it will be pretty different from the TDK teaser. The Batman Begins Teaser had some images and footage, and I could see quite a bit of footage from the previous two movies going into this trailer, building up to a reveal or two with minimal footage from the new film. This may be a our first look at the Catwoman costume, and why we haven’t had a reveal of it through viral marketing. Should be interesting.

It’s amazing and a tad bittersweet because we will be seeing the teaser trailer for Christopher Nolan’s final Batman film. The film that brings the trilogy to a close. Villians will fall, and the Dark Knight will Rise. I may get emotional if the title pops up at the end of the teaser. Bring it on, baby, bring it on!
