Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures announced today that Henry Cavill has landed the part of Superman in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Superman: The Man of Steel. The 27 year-old British actor will play the iconic American superhero, as well as his alter ego Clark Kent. Cavill seems to fit the description of actors they were looking for a couple months ago pretty well; he’s a relatively unknown television actor in his late twenties to early thirties. Cavill is mostly known for his roles in the television series The Tudors and the Matthew Vaughn film Stardust.
Superman: The Man of Steel is being produced by Christopher Nolan, Emma Thomas, and Deborah Snyder. The screenplay is being written by David S. Goyer based off a story by him and Christopher Nolan. The film is rumored to start production in late summer with a official release date set for December 2012. We also recently heard that the production will be making its way to Alberta, Canada sometime this year to shoot. So… what do you think about the casting of Cavill as Superman?
