charles roven interview Producer Charles Roven Talks Batman and Superman

ShockTillYouDrop.com finally published their anticipated (at least by me) interview with producer Charles Roven today. Charles has been a producer on both of Christopher Nolan’s Batman films, and will return again for The Dark Knight Rises, as well as Superman: Man Of Steel. Both films are due next year, summer 2012 and winter 2012 respectively, and yet still almost nothing is known about them. ShockTillYouDrop.com tried to solve that little problem by asking Mr. Roven to speak a little about the films:

We’re really excited to be doing another film with Chris Nolan and Emma Thomas. We’ve had great experiences working together. I just really enjoy making those films and being there to help Chris try and realize this amazing vision that he’s had for his Batman series. I’m also really thrilled that I was invited into the Superman process as well. It’s going to be interesting. Those are two really big films and they both have an exciting and eager fanbase that’s waiting. I’ve been a huge fan of Zack Snyder’s since, really, Dawn of the Dead and had a great meeting with him that resulted in us working together. Chris and Emma are also producing that film with me as is Deborah Snyder. So we’re having a really great time working on both this films right now.
- Charles Roven

Wondering if a similar team working on both films meant that the two worlds could be connected, ShockTillYouDrop.com asked about the possibility of a cohesive DC Universe. “No. That may be in somebody’s mind but right now the Batman lives in his world and the Superman lives in his world,” said Mr. Roven. They also asked about Christopher’s reputation for having a strong single-movie focus and how that is going to work with both of these massive films coming out in the same year, but I owe it to ShockTillYouDrop.com to send you their way to get the answer. Don’t worry, it’s worth-while to read the full interview.

It is interesting to hear that Warner Brothers have decided to keep the Batman and Superman movies apart which I think is a good idea because the last time there was talk of a combined movie it never happened. Whilst the idea would be appealing to fans of the comic books, the decision not to shows respect on the part of Warner Brothers to Christopher Nolan’s vision of keeping the Batman series grounded in reality and shows that they respect him enough not tamper with that vision

So basically he didn’t say F— All about TDK. AWWWWWWEEEEEE. It is good to hear he trusts Nolan to make a great final entry and that he is invested in “Nolans vision”. That is something rare for a producer today in hollywood.

Lol could you guys imagine if we didn’t get any official news about TDKR until the teaser hits? Imagine how aweful and EPIC that would be at the same time. :P

So . . . did he say anything we didn’t expect/know already? Lol. Better than nothing.

Well, it was a little unclear how involved Chris and Emma would be with Superman – especially after she made the “hand it off to Zack” comment. This clarifies their roles as more involved than that.

It also reconfirms the lack of ties between the two worlds, and that gci-supes is just a rumor.

    Hmmmmmmmmm

May not be much but still something. I really wish Nolan could drop Superman all together and just focus on TDKR all by itself.
