Nolan and Snyder Begin Looking for Superman

Deadline has the exclusive on the casting search for upcoming Superman film, in which they claim producer Christopher Nolan and director Zack Snyder have begun to cast a “wide net” to find the next Man of Steel. He who will don the cape and tights could very well be an undiscovered actor, or relatively unknown TV star, according to the site. Nolan, Snyder, and the studio are likely looking at actors in the 28-32 age range and could possibly look at hundreds of potentials before picking their man. The buzz on current candidates point to Armie Hammer from The Social Network and Joe Manganiello of True Blood.

Armie Hammer would be pretty damn awesome. He’s a great actor, and easy on the eyes!

Wow. This is going to be great! Anything involving Nolan is amazing obviously. Hopefully it would be better than the last one, and more exciting like the Nolan Batman franchise.

Armie Hammer was good in the Social Network but I think that if they brought Brandon Routh back it wouldn’t be a bad choice either.

Hammer has the voice and the poise of Superman. I’m not quite sure how he would pull of Kent though.

I like Armie Hammer for this. He seems to fit the look very well and he’s a great actor. I don’t think Brandon Routh should be considered to don the cape again. Not that he did a terrible job in Superman Returns but just because the fact is that this is not connected to that film in any way. If you want to start new you need to start completely new, including cast.

@jonny2eyes, nothing against british actors, cause I love them, but getting a british actor for Superman would be like wanting one for Captain America. It just doesn’t seem fitting. But who knows, my want is for the best actor to play The Man of Steel, and if he’s british I’ll be game.

This news from Deadline was nothing special really. It was just cheap way to get “hits” for the site really.

IMO, the only actors that should be targeted for the role of Superman, especially since it seems that Jon Hamm will NOT be considered for the role….are Armie Hammer and Henry Cavill. Sorry Routh and Welling fans, this new film will want a fresh face and fresh start.

Hammer and Cavill are under 30, have the height, Hammer 6’5, Cavill 6’1, and have the right facial structures to develop a more hardened look, after working out hard and bulking up for 5-6 months potentially.

They also have the acting skills to develop into a solid lead.

WB’s, Nolan and Snyder need to not waste time and energy doing a world wide casting search for Superman. They need to to just target those two and move forward.

I dont think nolan is producing the man of steel olthough his wife is i the nolan should make heavy rain in to a movie he wood make it awsome o and i think he should make keys to the street his screenplay that be wrote in 2000.
