2 Female Lead Roles Up For Grabs in The Dark Knight Rises

Deadline is reporting that Christopher Nolan is narrowing down his picks for actresses for the two female lead roles in The Dark Knight Rises, the much anticipated third Batman film from the director. As suspected, one of the roles is reportedly a love interest of Bruce Wayne’s, while the other is supposedly a villain. Mike Flemming of Deadline claims the actresses on the ever narrowing list are: Rachel Weisz, Natalie Portman, Keira Knightly, Naomi Watts, Blake Lively and Anne Hathaway. We learned last month that Tom Hardy landed an lead role in the film, which like the roles above, remains undefined.

I personally am intrigued by possible villain roles up for grabs, but I am not sure of who on this list could pull it off. I have my choices for the rumored love interest of Bruce’s, but I am interested in hearing what you all think. The Dark Knight Rises is scheduled to start shooting in April, with a release date on the books for July 20, 2012.

It seems like Weisz and Watts are up for one role and Portman, Hathaway, Lively, and Knightley for the other.

Now assuming the love interest will come from the older group, I’d like to see Naomi Watts as the love interest and Portman as the villain.

As some have noted, it seems like Natalie, Anne, Keira, and Blake are competing for the love interest, while Rachel and Naomi are competing for the villian.

I personally hope Natalie gets it – she’s the best actress of the bunch.

I would be happy with either Rachel or Naomi – both are stellar actresses. But I’m rooting for Naomi, who I think is actually underrated. Plus, don’t underestimate the unspoken emotional aspect of her succeeding Heath given their past relationship.

Moviehole broke the news that Nolan was meeting with actresses and they added a few more actresses to Deadline’s list. They say that Tanit Phoenix, Marion Cotillard, and Piper Perabo are also being considered for these roles.

I hope there is not a female villain in this movie, that’s just gay. And I most certainly hope there is no Catwoman, just retarded. I hope the female (whoever they choose) is just a love interest of Bruce Wayne’s.

If Marion Cotillard can’t be in this film due to scheduling issues most likely, then this list needs to be narrowed down to Weisz,Watts,Portman and Knightley. A big NO to Hathaway and Lively. I see Hathaway as a better fit for Lois Lane in the Nolan produced and Snyder directed Superman film actually.

I would want Weisz in this film no matter what actually if Cotillard can’t be had and most likely Knightley as Talia. Portman would be nice….however she is already in the Thor film.

Since Natalie and Blake already have their own superheroes to attend to, I doubt they’ll be chosen. If it were up to me, I’d go with either Rachel or Naomi. Shame that Vera Farmiga isn’t being considered any more (or is she?), as she would have been my top choice for either slot. Count me in as a supporter of Marion Cotillard. After seeing her in INCEPTION, I think she could handle a villainess role very well.

I wasn’t particularly interested in Anne Hathaway at first, but i’m warming up to the idea after thinking back on her performance in Rachel Getting Married. She’s an actress with quite a bit of potential.
Cotillard not so much, however. She was fascinating in Inception, but lacks a certain degree of connection with her delivery for something like The Dark Knight Rises. I’m not sure if that makes sense, but I think it stems from her being fairly unfamiliar with the nuances of the english language.

Lively isn’t nearly as bad as many are making her out to be. There was a scene in The Town where she really showed some excellent potential.

Watts and Portman still remain my top choices.

perfectly honest, i’m thinking who would match well on screen w/bale whether love interest or villain. considering how bale hasn’t had a strong connection w/his female cast mates, it’s a little hard to determine.

out this pick, i can see rachel & naomi playing as love interests. as for a villainess, i will have to go with rachel & naomi again. the other actresses i literally can’t see as villains are natalie & keira. with anne, i would give the benefit of a doubt b/c i can see a little w/her. as for natalie & keira, i just can’t see it.

keira fits more w/period pieces. natalie is already in thor, while blake is in green lantern. i think that’s enough right there. out this group, i can go w/rachel or naomi. as far as we know, nolan may choose actresses no will expect. that’s usually his motto.

Otherwise this move will be another cheesy Batman and Robin (1997). I hope Nolan will not foul it up.
