This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise or shock to any of you, but who are we to not report that Empire recently got Christopher Nolan to confirm that he will be directing the next installment in the Batman franchise? Cause they did! Batman 3, for lack of a better title, is a bit of puzzle project when it comes to the details. It has not officially been green-lit by Warner Brothers, and yet it has a set release date of July 20, 2012. The project has only been mentioned officially as part of a larger outline of films by the studio, and Christopher Nolan has never actually admitted publicly that he would be directing it himself. That is until now. Empire‘s Dan Jolin tracked Nolan down and got the word straight from the horse’s mouth.
“It’s becoming inevitable, I’ll put it that way. I feel myself falling into it, I guess. And getting it all figured out and I’m pretty excited about what we’re doing so… If I haven’t announced it, I think that people probably all know at this point that I’m doing it.”
And just what are they doing? Well, Christopher’s brother, Jonah Nolan, recently finished a draft of the film’s script. Chris is now going over that draft and making notes, and possibly doing a draft himself. Now all we have to do is sit around and speculate, predict, and wonder (as per internet fanboy tradition) about just what team Nolan has in store for us.
