inceptionisnow INCEPTION is Now

It’s been 519 days since we first learned about Christopher Nolan’s next project. Today is July 16, 2010 and Inception is now.

Over the past year and five months, we’ve written 119 Inception-related news articles (this is #120) and now, right now, theaters across North America are opening their doors for displays of Mr. Nolan’s seventh feature film.

Go see it. Enjoy it. Love it.

Thank you Mr. Haas, for this wonderful site, and sharing such a passion for Christopher Nolan’s films like everyone who visits this website. I talk to my family and friends 24/7 about Inception, and how excited I am about it, but HERE, here I get to really deeply, truly express my feelings about it, as well as other movies. And I can’t thank you enough. ;) (P.S. I’m going to see Inception tomorrow at 6:15! In IMAX BABY!!!)

  • dmcn307

I found NolanFans.com about a year ago and I love this site

    Thx everyone

[watching it later in IMAX(can't wait)]

  • Angel

    Thanks Alex :)

[I'm seeing Inception this Sunday! <3]

  • curtis wood

Watching it this evening in the UK. Can’t. Freaking. Wait. Nolan has this ability to make me feel like a child again, overdosed with anticipation about his work. For me, cinema in general has lost a lot of that magic so I’m just excited to be excited.

Thank you, Nolan fans for adding to this experience and being the premier convening point for myself and fans worldwide. Keep up the great work. Keep the dream real.

    CW :-)

And I’m sad that there ain’t any IMAX theatres in my city :’(
But I’m fortune enough to get to see it on the same day, Yay!! I can’t believe I’d be watching in just 3 hours….! <3

3:00 am, just got back. IMAX theater, very heavy turnout. line wrapped around the block. crowd was really enthusiastic and pumped. i turned to my friend and said, “geez, you’d think we were at a batman movie.” obviously i’m not going to spoil anything, but i will say this: last shot, about half the audience literally JUMPED out of their seats and were like “WTF!?” then everyone clapped.

    fucking. awesome.

  • DHOPW42

I envy you so much:-( Inception only “will be” a week from now in here… but I can take it. I can endure it :D

  • Brian

Saw it in a sold-out packed 9:00PM show (INCEPTION opens 1 day earlier in Asia)
As expected, it is a gripping thriller, a lot of cool scifi moments, and the dream-within-dream sequence is so expertly edited that you feel like you are exhausted from watching 3 different movie climaxes. It’s quite an experience. However, the ending is a little underwhelming, and there is a line in the first 15 minute mark that gives it away. But the journey to the end is what counts here. There are tons of great moments in the movie that would probably get you talking all the way from the parking lot to your 24-hr diner. And yea, the zero gravity scene is AWESOME! But you wish, Nolan would take the dream logic surrealism a bit further like the Wachowski Brothers did with the MATRIX movies. No swooshing gun racks here. Also of note, Hans Zimmer brilliant score: the sense of foreboding doom is always in the background, simmering, waiting to burst out into powerful crescendo.

Marion Cortilard is excellent, she switches from helpless romantic to murderous b*tch to a sexy mirage quite effortlessly. Ellen Page is better here, tolerable, than a lot of her annoying roles (I find her strangely annoying, sorry) but I wish they cast other actress – like Rose Byrne, similar look to Missy Page, but all woman. Leo is very good, a lot of guts in his performance. Ken Watanabe still speaks incomprehensible English but no matter, he always got great presence. The surprise here is that actor from 500 DAYS OF SUMMER: he’s all grown up now.

  • vinay

BRIAN: Ellen page not all Woman:) lol.. shes diversified her acting skills

im actually quite envious that most of you have seen it…

i have to wait 2 more weeks.. and only 1 IMAX theatre in our town..craps!

any way a normal movie theatre will do.. come on 31 July!!

  • http://www.facebook.com bikram

Thank you very much NolanFans Alex & Teddy for all the updates about Inception that you , so passionately, brought to us in this past year or so!!! Rest assured that they all have been followed with as much passion from all around the world… :)

As for my Inception experience. Here, in Romania it’s not releasing until the 30th of July!!!!! :( (( i guess i AM living in a “jank town” Alex & Teddy… ;-) ) :-P

  • Will

Yes, one of the greatest achievments in filmaking is finally here for us to enjoy. This is a great site, thank you for putting it up.

I got my 7:30 p.m. “real” IMAX tickets waiting for me at the Smithsonian Airbus IMAX Theater in Northern Virginia (Chantilly). I’m leaving work early today.

GO SEE THE MOVIE AND MAKE IT GAIN THE MONEY AND RESPECT IT RIGHTFULLY DESERVES!!!

Thank you Mr. Nolan, Thank you, Thank you very much.

  • filmmaniac111

    It changed my life.
    BEAUTIFUL

  • iamse7en

Did bikram just ruin the movie? I haven’t seen it yet.

  • iamse7en

Will. I am going to the exact same showing at the Airbus. Feel the earthquake this morning?

  • Jay

Just got back seeing that, And the first reaction was like: “I WISH MR. NOLAN WAS GOD!!!! “

  • phonebush

I saw it at midnight last night and surprisingly there was only about 20 people in the theater. i dont live in a small town and that theater is pretty big. but nonetheless it was still an amazing movie. i dont see how you could come up with all those details explaining it in your head

Lucky you people. It wont be “now” for me for another week and a half :/

  • http://www.nolanfans.com TeddyBlass

@Everyone Thank you! This site is nothing without all of you. :)

  • Aaron G

@phonebush: that’s weird, the turnout at my theater was pretty fucking big. people literally were taking chairs from the lobby of the main theater and carrying them upstairs to the top of the imax theater. and i’d say around 95% of the audience was under the age of 35, but i don’t think i saw anyone under 18. and surprisingly few geeks. it was mostly hipsters and “cool orange county” types. i was really surprised at how big the turnout was.

  • rbevanx

Seen it today, it was good but not a classic, much better than The Dark Knight mind.

  • John Constantine

c’mon, you should put “SPOILERS” in there if you talk about the film. I read a few comments and now I’m trying just not to look :)

in my country it starts on 30 of July so I have at least 2 more weeks until I see it. man… i wanna read post, reviews, forums about Inception but everywhere I look there are spoilers :( ( no one wants to go to a movie knowing key elements of the movie.

  • phonebush

    @john constantine

STOP READING, GET OFF THIS SITE, AND DONT LOOK AT ANYTHING INCEPTION UNTIL YOU SEE THE MOVIE!!!

I thought i had barely read anything on it but after i watched the movie i kept thinking that would have been so much better if i hadnt known anything about it

  • curtis wood

John C – I couldn’t agree with you more. Everyone else, if you don’t want to spoil a movie don’t even MENTION an ending. Don’t even allude to it. Don’t even type the word. Seriously.

Just got back from seeing it and was blown away. For those who have to wait longer to experience it, I feel for you. But know this, I’ve been following Inception’s production since it was officially announced (9 or 10 months ago?)….

….It was worth the wait. And I am still giddy.

  • Yobenm

Just saw it! Christopher Nolan is god!

It was a Premiere. Here in France the movie actualy starts on July 21. I will obviously go to see it again (and again) to clarify some details and above all enjoy this awesome movie again!

  • Shannon

    Thanks guys for everything!

I loved the movie. So much awesomeness packed into 2 and 1/2 hours; can’t shake it off and can’t wait to see it again. <3

  • phonebush

hey teddy howcome there are so many people on your Last Airbender site than this when that movie sucked and Christopher Nolan will never make a bad movie as long as he lives?

  • EMIRC-DNIM

Just got back from seeing it. Holy… I don’t even know how to put into words how good this movie is. So I’ll keep it short and simple. Inception is the best movie I have ever seen (I literally mean that by the way), and I have seen a JAPLOAD of movies. Long story short, go see this movie. Then see it again. And again. And again. (That’s what I’m gonna’ do :) )

  • Tasha

Saw it last night. WOW. I had to travel out of town to see it in IMAX for full effect, as I did for TDK too. After managing to avoid every trailer, I am so glad I didn’t go in knowing any details, as it just makes it even more breathtaking. I can’t put into words how I feel, because it is simply that amazing. I now have a craving to see it again, which I will tomorrow(albeit in a regular cinema). Definitely requires repeat viewings. Thank you Chris Nolan, for bringing back true film. Thank you.

  • Gary

    Saw it .
I enjoyed it quite a bit.

  • BumAround

This movie is so full of nihilistic and existentialistic views.
It’s a sad story about two old men (“Cobb” and “Saito”) who choose to “live forever” in dream realm(s) made possible by future technology.
Nolan is a genius, but the story is a very sad one.

  • Tim

Inception finally opened up in Europe today. I went to Amsterdam to watch it in imax and it is absolutely the most amazing film I’ve ever seen. Every second of this movie is brilliant. It is just the perfect movie. Period. It just can’t get any better. Can’t wait for an analysis podcast from alex and teddy.
