Dream-Share: Tactical Employment Procedures Manual

The creative minds behind Inception‘s Mind Crime game and the PASIV Device Manual have churned out what seems to be another leg of Inception’s viral marketing campaign. Introducing Dream-Share: Tactical Employment Procedures Manual.

This twenty-four page manual was sent to the folks at Wired Magazine, heavily weathered and stamped “classified.” This mostly redacted manual is divided up into seven chapters:

1. Specialists/Operatives
2. Environment Creation
3. The Dream/Waking World Relationship
4. The Hostile Subconscious
5. Warfare in the Dream
6. Interrogation Techniques
7. PASIV Device Instructions

It does tell quite a bit just from the images.

Environment creation – must/should be in the form of a maze and not based on pre-existing locations.
The Dream/Waking World Relationship – what happens to the dreaming body is manifested in the dream.
The Hostile Subconscious – ‘The projections as they become aware will attempt to seek out and destroy the source of the projections’
Warfare in the dream – ?
Interrogation techniques – depictions of pick-pocketing using misdirection and breaking into safes and file cabinets. Not clear quite what decides how information is hidden.

Great idea having the viral marketing campaign spill out from the internet and into the ‘real world’. Hopefully this will earn it even more attention.

I am beginning to wonder about if the characters in the film serve different purposes when they are in the dream state as opposed to the real world. How much control do they have of there actions when they are in someone elses dreams? Prehaps certain characters are forced to turn on each other while in the dream state, resulting in a strain in there relationships in the real world.

Marion’s character is probably a “projection” projected by Leo’s character.. especially if she’s already passed away.. hence why she’s out to kill him.
