Nearly two years after the release of The Dark Knight, Warner Bros. announced today that the third Batman film will debut in theaters and IMAX July 20, 2012. Although no details regarding the film have been released, it’s safe to assume Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, and Morgan Freeman will be reprising their respective roles and that it will be the final Batman film by Nolan.
For comparison, The Dark Knight was officially announced on July 31, 2006. The title and Heath Ledger as the Joker were included with that announcement. Details for the next film are expected to release in the coming months, with a title and a villain hopefully by the end of July.

Well it is about time, we have been waiting for this for a long time, although the gap between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight was 3 years not 4 but that is a side note.

No problem Alex. Will this mean that pre-production will have to start by at least fall?
on April 30, 2010 at 7:36 pm
Well. Couldn’t you say that pre-production has already started?

“It really doesn’t matter. The world will have ended before this ever gets released.”
no dude, the world ends in december of 2012.
also, yeah, as jamie said, there will be a 4 year gap between TDK and batman 3, which kinda sucks, but what can you do. if iron man’s schedule stays on course, batman 3 and iron man 3 will come out in 2012, which should good be for flamewar purposes

News: Inception has been rated, if somebody cares. “PG-13 for sequences of violence and action throughout”
Maybe my friend “Eternalist” kan tell me, what “throughout” means??
on May 1, 2010 at 10:27 am
^ Use a dictionary.
apw, you’re right! We’ll get a new Batman film BEFORE the end of the world.

thanx mate – very helpful
I know waht the world means in general speaking, but I’m not sure what it means in this contest.
on May 1, 2010 at 10:53 am
Throughout just means all of the time. So expect sequences of violence and action for most of the movie.
on May 1, 2010 at 11:39 am
okay, thanx – But how come movie like bourne ultimatum didn’t get “throughout” to – the violence and action is all the time? odd..

its from the scene where Batman and Gordon are in the room with the two dead cops named Richard Harvey and something Dent. The HAhaHA batsymbol was just above the bullet hole that Batman carved out of the wall. Thats how he knew to take the bullet because that symbol was pointing to the hole. Was probably cut for time.
