David S. Goyer and Jonah Nolan Writing Batman 3?

Posted on Monday, February 8, 2010 at 1:09 pm by TeddyBlass

flashforward goyer David S. Goyer and Jonah Nolan Writing Batman 3?Ahh yes, it’s that time again. Time for the Batman 3 rumors. And no, this isn’t the rumor to end all rumors like we were hoping for. This rumor (soon to be trumor?) comes from Nikki Finke, the respected Hollywood journalist from Deadline.com. In an article about why Goyer is leaving the TV show he helped create (FlashForward), Nikke sites Batman 3 as one of the reasons:

“Of course, Goyer’s feature career is really heating up, since he co-wrote Batman Begins, and penned the story for The Dark Knight, and is now writing the third Batman installment with Chris Nolan’s brother Jonah. ‘As my feature projects have started ramping up again, I felt I was being pulled in too many directions,’ Goyer said in a statement.”

Perhaps this is something Nikki Finke has been told in confidence, or it’s very possible she could just be speculating. Hopefully we will have more confirmation on the validly of this statement soon. And considering this story is going to be all over the internet this week, I suspect we might. Read the full article over at Deadline.com.

I really hope this is true. I mean, it’s not far-fetched. They need a story to present to Nolan so that he can decide if he wants to direct it or not.

  • Eternalist

I think this was an offhand comment, more of a speculation, that’s getting more attention that it deserves. If it was true, she’d likely dedicate it to it’s own article.

  • Glass

If this is true, PLEASE make sure Jonah is writing and Goyer’s role is minimized! Or better yet, boot him and just have Chris and Jonah write the script.

  • Chee

Glass, Goyer is a good screenwriter when matched up with the Nolan brothers.

goyer can have some good ideas, but he’s kind of awful when it comes to writing screenplays. the dialogue in TDK is light years ahead of anything in begins and we have jonah to thank for that. i hope he and goyer collaborate and then jonah goes on to hammer out the script himself, like he did on TDK.

  • BookWorm

I hope this is true. Her statement may have been an assumption, but that doesn’t mean it’s incorrect. If they’re really gearing up for Batman 3 then now’s the time to get started.

  • Giving the Kick

Goyer is really only on the projects for his vast amount of Batman knowledge.

Maybe you can put the post above in here with the news.

    Great news

  • KeeN

    Perfect! Batman Forever!

  • Glass

Goyer is definitely way better when he’s writing with Chris or Jonah. But that’s not saying much. His works outside of the Batman films have been extremely poor.

  • BookWorm

^ You have to be kidding me.

  • Mr. Astronomy

As long as Goyer isn’t writing. He half-baked Batman Begins and thankfully Jonah took over on TDK. I hope his role is even smaller than The Dark Knight. He didn’t officially get script credit on TDK but his fingerprints are all over the film.

Who is darker than Batman and Joker?
    It’s Batgirl.
What Batman does is predictable. What Joker does is predictable. (The difference was intensity in the acting.) Batgirl should be given a chance to add a cutting edge to the script. She has the psychological baggage that can make Catwoman look silly and catty.
BATGIRL. Let’s give an ultrasound screech to Batgirl.
