Good review! I like the idea of a Carte Blanche, and I'm going to apply for one as soon as I start my project of inventing screen doors for submarines.

One other possible influence for Nolan's "Inception" is the 1984 movie "Dreamscape" with (alpha listing) Eddie Albert, Kate Capshaw, David Patrick Kelly, Christopher Plummer, Dennis Quaid, and Max von Sydow. While it has 1984 special effects, and while it enjoys only a 6.3 rating on IMDb, it definitely explores mind control via interference with dreams. Worth a look.

Oh, NOW they make movies better. You see, you keep flip-flopping. You undid your own argument by defeating your own stance. You basically destroyed your own argument. End of story.

But they do make SOME movies better, like SVP, Fight Club and many many more great R rated movies. We never know the result of tdk with an r rating, but as the movie is know, it's great. But r rating would add some things, that pg13 did not, such as more realism.. end of story.

I said TDK worked well as pg13, and was realistic, but NOT as realistic as if the film were r rated. Blood and f bombs are things that people see and use in real life. I'm not saying that the movie would be that much better, but little more real afterall with r, the small things counts. I still love tdk, but small things like that counts sometimes. Well, I cant wait for inception. It's going to be best movie of the year.

Buddy, your argument's done. You've already contradicted yourself by saying The Dark Knight should have been R then saying it should be PG-13. AND you'vve shot your own argument by saying that R ratings, while making films more "real", don't make them better.

You've killed your own points. This is done.

YOU don't get it, pal. SPR shows the ugliness og cruelty of WAR, and that makes deep impact on the story and people, audience. If you take that away, you do not have same impact, impression on the story telling. War is bloody mess.....Yeah, you could try make the SVR story with pg13, BUT the result wouldn't be the same, no same impact on war, no same impression, no same realism.

You still didn't answer me. What is more realistic. Blood or smoke?? If SPR were pg13, you see lots of smoke? Is that real?

The general audience actuelly also want's more r rated movies. Only problem is studios. Not me. They make more money.

You really aren't getting it. R rating or not, the story would be the same. You haven't proven how the story would be told any differently if they didn't have explicit violence. Blood and profanity don't make films real, there are numerous ways of displaying reality without explicit violence. The only reason you want films to be R rated is because YOU want films to be R rated. You've already flipped flopped saying that The Dark Knight should be rated R and then saying that it should be PG-13 so most of your arguments are moot anyway. YOU want R rated blockbuster films, and that's not going to happen.

I'm begging you, honestly begging you, to STOP crying about this and wasting your time and energy, you're not proving any point and it's just getting pathetic now.

Reason whay there are pg13? You are pretty naive enough to believe that.

R ratings do add realism, people swear in real life and you se blood when they get shot, not smoke. Do you think smoke is real? Humans don't bleed? Im not talking about gore. Gore is only good in horror zombie movies, it's fun.

SVP wouldn't be the same movie with out graphic war violence, not what so ever. War is terrible, and if you don't see that trough rough violence, then it isn't a true war movie, and do not have any impact.

LARGE filmmaking = PG-13 Some movies like you say are shot to be pg13, but that is only because they talk about it before the production, and they agreed to do it pg13, to make more §§. Some are toned down, also to make more money in theaters, but when dvd-release finaly is out, you get to see r rated version.

There's a reason films like Batman and Bourne don't have R ratings, they don't need them. No film NEEDS to be R rated. The story would be told the same with or without it. Adding gore and profanity wouldn't change the story. R ratings don't add realism, they just add gore, sex and profanity.

I do, however, have problems with films that were toned down for PG-13 ratings such as Live Free or Die Hard. But films that were always going to be made with a PG-13 or R rating I don't care about and don't bother crying over.

But you can't IMPLY the violence in a war movies like SPR. You have to understand the fact that, when people are shot, they bleed. It's not smoke. War is terrible and harsh, it's not a dance.

Often it's not directors choice (ratings) to make this kind of decision, specelly R ratings. They are forbidden in big budget movies, and thats why directors have to make films pg13, and be creative. PG 13 works fine in movies like Begins, Dark knight, Bourne-films, but not in Die Hard, Terminator, War movies. It's just not reality.

I did't say, that r ratings makes movies better. In some case more realistic, thats all.

You don’t get it. You can name a dozen films that had graphic violence and that doesn’t change the fact that if it were filmed creatively to IMPLY the violence instead of just blatantly illustrating every tooth grinding moment, that it wouldn't change the story. The story would have played out exactly the same and had the same impact if he used a different technique without the gore.

They show plenty of violence in PG-13 films, just not as graphic. It's simply a matter of choice on the director's part. If they feel that is the way they want to illicit that response, thats the tool they are going to use. But they could use a different tool and illicit the same response. You just feel that they can't get the same response because they didn’t use it. Every example you bring up, I could illustrate how they could do it differently and get the same results.

You've just admitted that writing, direction etc. is what makes films great, not R ratings. You need to stop beating this dead horse.
