Although hundreds of unofficial production stills have hit the web since filming began, Warner Bros. has just released the first official still for Christopher Nolan’s Inception. It appears to be one of the scenes set in Tokyo, with DiCaprio’s Cobb dressed very closely to one of the shots in the most recent trailer where he attaches a silencer to a pistol while making his way through a kitchen.

Can’t wait for more to be released.

I have a gut feeling it’s the scene where the room changes as well George.

I totally agree Jake, its about time he wins an Oscar for his cinematography. Hopefully this will be the one.

It really doesn’t get any more badass than that. Just looking at the pic gives me chills.

Any idea about where is happening that?
Oriental temple filmed in Canada??
What has Leo in his hands?

^ Read the article.
Awesome photo.

Chris Nolan will never make a movie I don’t want to see.
on January 17, 2010 at 9:42 pm
NolanFans, how was this photo released by WB? Their website, or did they send you the pic? Just curious…
on January 17, 2010 at 10:21 pm
It was released with an article by LATimes.

on paper, that pic should be kind of ho-hum (dicaprio holding a gun in a room), but there’s a great atmosphere that’s conveyed. i also get this strong sense of atmosphere in the trailer; you could look at the pic and say it’s a still from a science-fiction movie, a fantasy movie, a horror movie, a thriller, etc. and all could be accurate.

@aaron
The thing that makes the photo so amazing is the lighting. The colors work so well together to create, well, what you already said: atmosphere. OMFG I can’t wait.

I don’t think the character’s name is Cobb…
on January 18, 2010 at 10:10 am
@drbenway
Why are you saying that?
on January 18, 2010 at 12:59 pm
Yea, I agree drbenway, but until his official name is released that’s our best bet.
aaron: hahah, yea, the background looks like its a melting painting, even though its not. It makes it look like its a nightmare.
on January 18, 2010 at 2:08 pm
This gives me a chill and a surreal feel and reminds me of a brilliant Indian film No Smoking.
on January 18, 2010 at 4:23 pm
@DHOPW42
I think it’s been confirmed the character’s name is Jacob Hastley. “Cobb” is a codename used during the shoot (and erroneously picked up by imdb, as usual), and is taken from one of the main characters in Following.
on January 18, 2010 at 4:24 pm
Actually, just doing a little more research here, the Jacob Hastley thing isn’t correct, I don’t think.
on January 18, 2010 at 7:50 pm
@drbenway
Yeah, the Jacob Hastley thing was the fake name, just like Isabella for Ellen Page’s name. We now know that their real name is Cobb and Ariadne.
on January 18, 2010 at 9:03 pm
OH MY GOD. JACOB HASTELY IS NOT HIS REAL NAME. IT’S FROM AN APRIL FOOLS PRANK.

Does it look like Leonardo is being deliberately styled to look like Nolan (like in the 1st poster)?
on January 19, 2010 at 3:05 am
No. Millions of men wear a suit every single day. Millions of men have the same hairstyle as Leo and Nolan.
on January 19, 2010 at 7:25 am
@apw
But just the both of them are going to take part in the movie Inception. It can’t be a coincidence;-):-D
on January 19, 2010 at 7:50 am
It is just a coincidence.
on January 19, 2010 at 8:30 am
I know, it was only a joke:-D
on January 19, 2010 at 2:13 pm
some of you people or so quick to write off things you can have no idea of truely possibly knowing. Everything is Assumption. So APW, don’t act like you have the answers.
on January 19, 2010 at 2:46 pm
Leo plays a CEO and CEOs wear a suit.
Wouldn’t it be just common sense to consider it a coincidence?
If Nolan wore a bright red bowler hat and Leo was wearing the same then I think it was deliberate.
on January 19, 2010 at 2:54 pm
Comment 28 was me, by the way. I enetered my real name by mistake.
on January 19, 2010 at 8:03 pm
Yes you have a point but I’m just saying that we can’t write things off as coincidence or not purely on our own basis because its all assumption. No one knows what’s what except for Nolan himself. So until July 16 comes around (that may not even give us all the answers) or until Nolan confirms anything then we can only leave every piece of speculation open.
on January 19, 2010 at 8:05 pm
And why does it have to be something so vibrant and loud for it to be considered deliberate? Just because it’s such a subtlety of having a suit doesn’t mean that it wasn’t an intentional choice.
on January 21, 2010 at 5:08 pm
To all the people who speculates if Leo is Cobb.
Cobb’s stuntdouble is Marc Fichera, who is also stunt double for Leo in “Shutter Island” and “Body of Lies”.
on January 21, 2010 at 5:41 pm
That still doesn’t mean the character is actually called Cobb.
on January 23, 2010 at 11:53 pm
Awesome!
