In a Deadline.com article describing Warner Bros’ Jeff Robinov restructuring of DC Comics, some interesting details were mentioned concerning Christopher Nolan‘s filming  schedule:
Of Superman, Wonder Woman, and the Justice League, only Batman has an ongoing live action franchise. And now that director Chris Nolan is working on back-to-back pics, who knows when the threequel will get a start date.
The article indicates that Nolan will begin directing another film soon after the completion of Inception in December. What’s even more intriguing is the notion that it is not Batman related. Â If this is true, I suspect it’ll be a smaller project that will only take two or three months to shoot, much like Nolan did with The Prestige from January to April in 2006. Â This potential second film may even be included in the massive $200 million budget rumored for Inception.

Doesn’t seem very likely. This source just mentions it nonchalantly like we all know what they’re talking about.
Although I’ve heard that other people have heard something like this before. « Sign of a good rumor. haha.

Yeah very unlikly. He spends a lot of his time on post-production and promoting Inception will be a lot if WB have a 200 million dollar film to sell.

Why even post a story on this? This author clearly has no idea what he or she is talking about. I think they meant back to back meaning from Dark Knight to Inception. I would just ignore that comment. IT is either an error or just bad choice of wording.

Just a rehashed article from March. I think just refering to TDK and Inception being back to back.

The wording suggests something other than Batman.
“…working on back-to-back pics, who knows /when/ the /threequel/ will get a /start date/.”
But I agree. I think the author on deadline.com is confused.

I tihnk it’s more poorly wored than confused.
He probably only had a little time after promoting TDK before he said writing Inception. I think you could class TDK and Inception as being back to back.
Also ‘completion of Inception in December’? I don’t think Inception will conpleted in December. They only finish filming in December.

It wouldn’t make sense with TDK and Inception.
The Dark Knight completed filming two years before Inception began. Definitely not back to back.
It’s probably confusion on the part of the writer, but I do hope it’s true.

He still has to do post-production on the film.
He was still working on The Dark Knight only a few weeks before it was released in cinemas. Not to mention going around the world to promote it. Once you’ve done that, then the movie is complete.
When you finish filming the movie is not when the movie is complete.
So inbetween finishing TDK and then writing Inception, that will have been pretty much back to back.

Back-to-back usually means that the films are shot one after another (Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, etc.)

Very poor choice of words.
