Production Update #2: Inception Filming in Tangier

Posted on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at 1:19 am by TeddyBlass

One of our readers who lives in Morocco recently informed us that Christoper Nolan (and his crew) are in city of Tangier filming Inception. According to a local shop owner, the filming location is being set up to look like Kenya. All the local shops adjacent to the set are selling more African looking fabrics, and the architecture of the set is supposedly not Moroccan. There are “Oliver’s Arrow” production trucks around town, and several dozen extras were spotted relaxing in a nearby building — all of which were wearing traditional African garb. Our source tells us that Leonardo DiCaprio is in town for the filming, but there is no word on which other cast members are present. We will bring you more details when we get them. Until then, feast your eyes on some of the pictures Aaron sent in of the area around the production in Tangier, Morocco.

@ Kenneth and filipeG, I’m from Tangier, and TangierS with an S is also correct. Both ways of calling it are right. TangierS is bit more classical, from the International period, but is still used and also correct.
    Thanks.

i worked on the tangier set for this film. Everything was super secret and we weren’t even sure until they arrived if it was actually going to be inception or not. the building is not traditional moroccan, they completely destroyed a very well known resturant and redid it to look like nambia…i spent three weeks ahead of time trying to find sub saharn africans to work as extras..most of them didnt want to as they were attempting to immigrate to spain or were illigal immigrants. during this scene leo jumps from the second story balcony where you see the people standing around. he kept making the funniest noises each time he did a take..it was rather hilarious. there is a shot from a helicopter for this scene too..should be rad…a few blocks away we filmed the rioting scene you see in the trailor. this was a FUN film to work on!

^ I doubt they could “destroy” a well-known restaurant you fool.
