DiCaprio Ordered to Lose Weight for Inception Fight Scenes

dicaprio loseweight DiCaprio Ordered to Lose Weight for Inception Fight ScenesIt’s starting to seem that Christopher NolansInception is going to be packed with fight scenes. We’ve seen bits and pieces of the hallway scene in the teaser and now these photos from Tangier show some more fist-throwing action. These fight scenes seems like they’re going to be very physically demanding on the cast, as you may have caught from the title of this story, Mr. DiCaprio here, needs to lose some weight. Here’s what we’ve heard from a set source:

“Leo needs to shed at least 30lbs. He’s gained weight recently and looks almost a bit flabby, which isn’t good, especially as the camera adds pounds. There’s an action scene coming up at the end of the year in which he needs to appear emaciated, so the pressure is on. Leo isn’t the kind of guy who can just lose a radical amount of weight though – he gets very nervous about it. He’s following a strict diet and is embarking on a rigorous workout regime. He hopes to lose the weight through the old fashioned way of cutting back on calories and upping his exercise. Leo’s a pretty determined kind of guy, when he sets his mind to things he always achieves them. Though this is going to be hard for him, you can guarantee he’ll succeed.”

    Alex

To a woman’s eye ….based on the many photo stills we’ve seen thus far, plus, photos of DiCapiro on beach in Ibiza weeks ago , the guy looks to be in good shape…

However….for sure if Nolan ‘truly’ (??) does want him more muscled….. or as the article mentions ‘emaciated’ for some ending scenes ..he would have to lose weight.

As per comments from others who have worked with DiCaprio…he is a consumate professional and he has always come to any film set …be it Scorsese’s or Nolans….completely prepared to work….for what the role/what the director desires from him

Thus I don’t believe he came to Nolan’s set in a condition/ weight that was
    unacceptable

What I contend is that if the info in the article is accurate ( emaciated in ending fight scenes ) then he was prior to filming following a regimen that would allow him to continue to lost weight while filming to be prepared to look emaciated

Action and stunt work is very physically demanding. I’m not really surprised, he was looking like he gained a bit of weight from the leaked set photos.

Also, I don’t think he’s meant to be muscular in the film, just not flabby.

    emaciated is pretty extreme.

it’s going to tough for leo. he is getting rather chubby nowadays.

In the Ibizia /bathing suit photos , I nor the writer for NY Post saw any ‘flab’ either :)

As I stated aboe I , personally, feel the exercise regimen to be ready for any fight scenes/ emaciated scenes were begun long before DiCaprio reported to set in late June.

Such matters/physical requirements for the role would have been discussed between DiCaprio and Nolan before filming ever began as they typically are between any actor and director :)

This must be this board where you know me from :)

Thanks again for the Morocco cafe photo .

Do look at the link below from NY Post concerning the same ‘weight’ article ….like the writer…. I certainly don’t see a chubby person or any flab :)

I fail to see your problem.

Leo was looking like he had gained a bit of weight and now he has to lose it.

Why do you think he needs to look emaciated?

I don’t see it as anyone…you or me ‘having a problem’

In your opinion he looks like he has gained a bit of weight and now he has to lose it.

I was simply stating in my opinion, based on the photos of him I’ve seen since June, he appears trim, not overweight or flabby. Does he appear ‘emaciated” ? No……So as I said I agree that if he truly has to look emaciated for some scenes, yes , he would have to lose weight

It is simply a matter of different folks=different strokes….

I see, you can state your opinion, I just find it bizarre that you’d respond to my comment to state it.

If this is true, he has a great resource at his fingertips. Tom Hardy, another of the actors in Inception, just did the weight loss/weight gain thing in the last few years with Bronson and Stuart a Life Backwards. His trainer, Patrick Monroe, was key to achieving these physical transformations. He would do well to ask Tom about his experience, what worked, and maybe even make use of patrick.

    just sayin.
